Sony Corp. this week said the company’s game division held a 64.4 percent gain in revenue in the third quarter due to the release of the at Playstation 4 to global markets.

The games division held an operating profit of $172 million on revenue of $4.35 billion between Oct. to Dec. 2013.

The company held a forecast of five million PS4 units sold by the end of the fiscal year ending Mar. 31.

Sony forecasts an annual net loss of $1.1 billion by fiscal Mar.

The Playstation 4 has sold 4.2 million units in global territories.

The sales mark is as of Dec. 28, 2013.

It will be sold Feb. 22 in Japan.

PS4 software sales totaled 4.2 million units in retail and digital download sales as of Dec. 28, 2013.

In addition, Playstation Plus subscriptions increased more than 90 percent the PS4 hardware launch.

Finally, more than 1.7 million gameplay broadcasts have been streamed via Twitch and Ustream.

The PS4 is sold $399.99.

The hardware utilizes a PC-like architecture with a x86-based AMD Jaguar 8-core CPU, a 1.84 TLFOPS AMD next-generation Radeon GPU, and GDDR5 8GB RAM. In addition, the hardware features a 6X Blu-ray disc drive, USB 3.0 interface, Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, and digital output.

First-party titles for the PS4 include Killzone: Shadow Fall, DriveClub, Knack, Infamous: Second Son, and The Witness.
