By comparison, the hardware sold 13,243 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10 software sales for the week, including Sengoku Basara 4 at No. 1 and Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z at No. 5.

Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this month said it will release Ace Combat Infinity beta for the Playstation 3 to the Playstation Network division Feb. 4.
The beta will run between Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 and allow users to engage in Campaign and Co-op missions.
In addition, a bonus ‘Test Pilot’ emblem will be awarded to users who participate in the beta.

Microsoft this week said it has acquired rights to the Gears of War franchise from Epic Games.

Respawn Entertainment this month said EA Inc.’s Titanfall for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the PC will not include local multiplayer.

Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week released Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z to U.S. retail.
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z is a new fighting entry that includes cel-shaded HD graphics, single-player campaign, expanded versus modes and co-op modes.
Characters include Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta with trademark attacks including the Kamehameha, Special Beam Cannon, and Spirit Bomb.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked fourth in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 8,490 units between Jan. 20 and Jan. 26 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.
It sold 11,443 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software titles in the top 10.
Nintendo this week recorded a profit in the third quarter despite slow sales for the Wii U console.
The company this week said held a net profit of $99 million in the third quarter due to strong sales of Nintendo 3DS software.
The Wii U has sold 5.86 million hardware units and 29.37 software units to date. It sold 2.4 million Wii U units in the quarter.
The Nintendo 3DS has sold (to retailers) 42.74 million units and 152.29 software units to date.
The company forecasted a loss of $242 million for the fiscal year ending Mar. 31. In addition, it has lowered Wii U annual sales to 2.8 million from nine million and Nintendo 3DS annual sales to 13.5 million from 18 million units.
