Nintendo Co. this week said it will release a Quick Start Menu for the Wii U GamePad in a future system update.

The Quick Start Menu will allow users to load recent software from the GamePad without booting to the main menu.

The company said the function should decrease boot time by 50 percent.

The Wii U has sold 5.86 million hardware units and 29.37 software units to date. It sold 2.4 million Wii U units in the quarter.
