Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 13,243 units between Jan. 13 to Jan. 19 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 14,845 units the week prior.

The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10 for the week.

Retailer GameStop Corp. this week said it has restocked the Playstation 4 at brick and mortar locations.

The company said it is working closely with Sony to receive weekly shipments of the in-demand hardware.

In addition, it made available limited stock at GameStop.com to online customers.

Sony this week released the Japan Trailer for DriveClub for the Playstation 4.

The trailer features exterior and cockpit racing action in day and night tracks.

Developed by Evolution Studios, DriveClub is a racing simulation title that features social networking functionality to allow users to form racing groups and race with friends. It will be sold in 2014.

Digital Extremes this week released Update 11.5 to Warframe for the Playstation 4.

Update 11.5 includes a brand new Warframe, customizable controls and Trophy support.

Developed by Digital Extremes, the free-to-play action combat title features solo and cooperative functionality and touch pad control options like a swipe to charge at an opponent.

Sony this week released the trailer for the Left Behind DLC for The Last of Us for the Playstation 3.

The trailer features the full opening cinematic of the first single-player DLC for the title.

The Left Behind DLC will include characters Ellie and Riley in an event set prior to The Last of Us.

It will be sold Feb. 14.

Sony this week released Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3.

The title is part of the Instant Game Collection and is available at no cost to Playstation Plus members.

Developed by Starbreeze Studios and published by 505 Games, the title allows a single player to control two brothers simultaneously with left and right analog sticks to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles.

Sony this week said the demo for Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII for the Playstation 3 is now available in the Playstation Network division.

In the demo, Lightning tracks down Snow Villiers in the city of Yusnaan. In addition, users can utilize Outerworld functionality to share progress via Twitter and Facebook.

Finally, users who download the demo will receive an exclusive DLC – the Utsusemi Samurai garb – which can be used in the final game.

Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked as the No. 2 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 26,963 units between Jan. 13 and Jan. 19 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.

By comparison, the hardware sold 32,016 units the week prior.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster ranked as the No. 9 best-selling software for the week.

Tecmo Koei Corp. this week released the demo for Toukiden: The Age of Demons for the Playstation Vita in the Playstation Network division.

Developed by Omega Force, the action adventure title includes a demon-fighting warrior who can accept quests and venture out to battle demons.

Sony this week released Worms: Battle Islands free to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation Vita and the PSP.

The title is part of the Instant Game Collection and is available at no cost for Playstation Plus members.

Worms: Battle Islands includes 60 single-player challenges, 40 classic Worms weapons and four player online and offline multiplayer competitive functionality.

NIS America Inc. this week said it will release Demon Gaze to the Playstation Vita Apr. 22 in the U.S. and Apr. 25 in Europe.

The title will be sold at retail and in digital format.

Demon Gaze is a dungeon crawler RPG that includes 3D dungeons and high-definition anime artwork.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware ranked No. 6 units in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 273 units between Jan. 13 and Jan. 19 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 281 units the week prior.

Microsoft this month said the Xbox One console held six titles in the top 10 next-generation game list in data by NPD Group Inc.

The data firm this month said six Xbox One titles ranked in the top 10 next-generation game sales, including Battlefield 4, Forza Motorsport 5, Dead Rising 3, Ryse: Son of Rome, Madden NFL 25, and Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The Xbox One sold 908,000 units in Dec.

Microsoft this week said the Xbox One has sold 3.9 million units in five weeks post launch of the next-generation hardware.

In addition, the Xbox 360 sold 3.5 million units in the second quarter.

The Devices and Consumer division, which includes the Xbox platform, held $1.9 billion in revenue, a 68 percent increase from the year prior.

Microsoft held earnings of $6.56 billion on revenue of $24.52 billion in the second quarter ending Dec. 31, 2013.

Capcom Co. this week said Dead Rising 3 for the Xbox One has shipped more than one million units to global retail.

The franchise has sold more than seven million units to date.

In Dead Rising 3, users control Nick Ramos through a zombie-infested Los Perdidos, California. The title includes various neighborhoods that users can scavenge to pick up weapons or combine to form new weapons.

Square Enix Co Ltd. this week released ‘The Definitive Lara’ trailer for Tomb Raider Definitive Edition.

The trailer features high-definition updates to the title including a full character model upgrade, increased density, subsurface scattering, and drip map effects.

Tomb Raider Definitive Edition will be remastered to 1080p resolution to increase all textures four times and include subsurface scattering technology, more sophisticated physics modeling, and upgraded characters and enemies.

Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released the Extinction Episode 1: Nightfall Trailer for the Call of Duty: Ghosts.

The trailer features Extinction Episode 1: Nightfall, included in the Onslaught DLC, in which scientists lose control of an alien research program.

The Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught DLC for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be sold Jan. 28 in the Xbox Live division.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 11,443 units between Jan. 13 and Jan. 19 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.

It sold 14,020 units the week prior.

Super Mario 3D World ranked at No. 10 in software sales selling 10,500 units for the week. The title has sold 463,020 copies since launch.

Nintendo this week said Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Wii U will include online functionality.

The title will feature online leaderboards to compete against friends and video upload functionality to post level runs.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, to be sold Feb. 21, will include five islands for trademark side-scrolling, barrel-blasting action.

The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the top hardware in Japan due to strong demand for the handheld.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 47,438 units between Jan. 13 and Jan. 19 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 60,154 units the week prior.

It ranked seven titles in the top 10 game sales including Kirby Triple Deluxe at No. 1, Pokemon X / Y at No. 3 and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds at No. 5.

Capcom Co. this week said it will release Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition for the PC and Steam Feb. 28.

Resident Evil 4 Ultimate HD Edition will include high-definition graphics fidelity at 60 frames-per-second, multiple language support and all previously released bonus content at $19.99.

The Steam pre-order campaign, now available, includes a digital soundtrack and digital artwork. The Steam version will feature support for Steam Cloud, Steam Trading Cards, global leaderboards and full game controller support.
