Dish Network Corp. this week said it will release the Hopper application to Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 in spring 2014.

The Hopper Whole-Home HD DVR application will allow PS3 and PS4 users with a Dish Network subscription to access and control live TV, recordings, and program guide navigation.

The software-based Virtual Joey is said to offer a near-identical experience to the Hopper to make live TV and recordings accessible from the PS3 and PS4.

The Hopper application will be available in the first half of 2014.

The PS4 is sold at $399.99.
