Microsoft Corp.’s Surface tablet SKUs held market share gain based on usage data by Chitika.

The advertisement firm this week said Microsoft held a post-holiday tablet share increase of 0.5 to total 2.3 percent.

Microsoft last fall price cut Surface RT and Pro tablet SKUs after lower-than-expected sales for the device.

Retail stores began selling the Surface RT for as low as $199.99 in Black Friday sales initiatives.

Surface with Windows RT was released last fall and has sold 1.5 million units to date.

Windows RT SKUs include a quad-core Nvidia Tegra CPU and is compatible with downloadable Windows Store applications. In addition, Windows RT includes Office Home & Student 2013.

The Surface with Windows 8 Pro includes an Intel Core i5 CPU, 1920 x 1080 resolution, digitizer pen, mini DisplayPort, and features compatibility with all x86-based Windows applications.

Both Surface SKUs include a 10.6-inch Gorilla Glass screen, HDMI, USB 3.0, front and rear cameras, kickstand, and 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi antennas.
