Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked fourth in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 13,311 units between Nov. 25 to Dec. 1 to rank No. 4 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 12,436 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked five titles in the top 10, including Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII at No. 3, Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends at No. 5, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag at No. 6, World Soccer Winning Eleven 2014 at No. 7, and Super Robot Wars OG: Infinite Battle at No. 8.
Sony this week said the Playstation 4 has sold 2.1 million units in global territories.
The sales mark follows the release of the hardware in Europe and Latin America Nov. 29.
It sold through 1 million units in 24 hours post launch in the U.S. and Canada.
It will be sold Feb. 22 in Japan.
Sony this week said Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Ghosts for Playstation 4 ranked as the top-selling title for the hardware in the Playstation Network division.
Call of Duty: Ghosts ranked as the No. 1 PS4 PSN title in Nov.
Battlefield 4 ranked at No. 2 and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag ranked third in the same period.
Sony this week released Grid 2 for the Playstation 3 to the Instant Game Collection to Playstation Plus members.
Grid 2 is an arcade simulation title. It is available at no cost for PS Plus members.
It typically sells at $35.99.
Sony this week released Gran Turismo 6 for the Playstation 3 to U.S. retail.
Gran Turismo 6 includes 1,200 vehicles, including all the cars GT5. In addition, the title will feature 33 tracks with 71 different layouts, including all the tracks from GT5. New tracks include the UK Silverstone Circuit.
The final game includes a new refactored and compact rendering engine, new physics engine, new course maker, community organizer, new user interface and new mobile and web interface enjoy community functions from various devices.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked as the No. 3 video game hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
The PS Vita sold 25,593 units between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 28,912 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10 for the week.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 4,232 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.
Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this month began sale of an exclusive bundle that includes Sony Corp.’s Playstation Vita, The Walking Dead, and three additional game titles at under $180 in a new holiday configuration.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware ranked No. 7 units in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 309 units between Nov 25 and Dec. 1 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 342 units the week prior.
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag ranked at the No. 43 sales rank for the week amid launch of the title in the region.
Microsoft this week released the Tips and Tricks Trailer that explains UI features in the Xbox One.
The trailer includes the Menu button to pin and unpin dashboard icons, and pause game installations.
Microsoft this week said it released Gears of War and Shoot Many Robots free for the Xbox 360 to Xbox Live Gold members.
Gears of War is available at no cost between Dec. 1 and Dec. 15. Shoot Many Robots is available between Dec. 16 and Dec. 31.
The release is part of the Xbox Live Games for Gold program which offers two games a month at no cost to Xbox Live Gold members.
McDonald’s this week began the One Hot Holiday giveaway in which customers can win the Xbox One console instantly.
Customers can win an Xbox One or other prizes with the peel-away sticker attached to select McDonald’s food products.
The Xbox One, released Nov. 22, features an 8-core AMD CPU, Radeon GPU, 8GB RAM, 500GB hard drive, Blu-ray disc drive, 802.11n Wireless with Wi-Fi Direct, HDMI, and USB 3.0.
Microsoft this week said consumers have spent 50 million hours on games and entertainment for the Xbox One post launch.
The figure is taken from 11 days post launch of the hardware. The Xbox One has launched in 13 countries.
Additional data includes three billion zombies killed in Dead Rising 3 and 90 million miles driven in Forza Motorsport 5.
EA Inc. this week released the China Rising Trailer for Battlefield 4.
The trailer features combat action from the new expansion pack.
China Rising includes four new multiplayer maps, all-new vehicles and military equipment.
It is available now for Battlefield Premium members and will be sold Dec 17 to non-members.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware increased in Japan in the latest sales data for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 28,518 units between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1 to rank at No. 2 in overall sales.
It sold 21,002 units the week prior.
Super Mario 3D World ranked at the No. 3 sales rank for the week selling 39,812 units for the week. The title has sold 139,400 copies since launch.
The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the top hardware in Japan due to strong demand for the handheld.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 108,373 units between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 84,501 units the week prior.
It ranked four titles in the top 10 game sales including Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai 2 at No. 1, Pokemon X / Y at No. 2, One Piece: Unlimited World Red at No. 8, and Monster Hunter 4 at No. 10.
Target Corp. stores this week began sale of the Nintendo 2DS Red System with Pokemon X pre-installed at $149.99.
In addition, Toys R Us Inc. stores began sale of the Nintendo 2DS Blue System with Pokemon Y pre-installed at $149.99.
Nintendo this week released the Nintendo 3DS Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bundle to U.S. retail.
The retail SKU includes a custom Mario & Luigi Nintendo 3DS handheld and a pre-installed copy of Mario & Luigi: Dream Team at $199.99.
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team is an action RPG title that spans two worlds, including the real world and Luigi’s dream world.
