Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 11,643 units between Oct. 14 to Oct. 20 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 12,395 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked six titles in the top 10, including Grand Theft Auto V at No. 3, Saint Seiya: Brave Soldiers at No. 5, FIFA 14 at No. 6, Beyond: Two Souls at No. 7, Soccer Tsuku: Pro Soccer Club at No. 8, and Tales of Symphonia Chronicles at No. 9.
Sony this week announced launch features for the Playstation 4 that will deploy Nov. 15.
Final PS4 functionality will be included in Software Update 1.50 which will release simultaneously with the hardware.
Features include Remote Play to play select PS4 titles from the PS Vita via Wi-Fi; Second Screen to use the Playstation App to offer second screen functionality from an iPhone, iPad or Android-based mobile device; Record, take screenshots, and upload gameplay with the Share button; Broadcast and spectate gameplay using Ustream and Twitch; Play as you download to play digital titles while they are being downloaded; Multi log-in for up to four users to login to separate save data and trophies; Party and voice chat; Face recognition and voice commands with the Playstation Camera; Online multiplayer functionality with a Playstation Plus membership; and Blu-ray disc and DVD playback functionality.
In addition, the Playstation App will be released Nov. 13 in the U.S. and Nov. 22 in Europe to iOS and Android devices. The Playstation App will offer access PSN features and information including Profile Screen access, Trophy access, message exchange between PS4, PS3, and PS Vita hardware, to receive notifications or game invites.
Sony this week began offering new pre-order game titles for Playstation 4 via the Playstation Store.
Titles previously available for pre-order included Knack and Warframe.
Finally, all pre-order titles include pre-order bonus incentives.
Ubisoft Inc. this week said it will release Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation HD for the Playstation 3 will be sold via the Playstation Store Jan. 14.
Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation< HD will include high-definition graphics and 15 new missions.
Sony this week released Hotline Miami for the Playstation 3 and PS Vita free to the Instant Game Collection of the Playstation Plus division.
The action title is an original IP that includes violent visuals in a throwback 8-bit graphics set.
In the game, the main character takes down enemies with shooting and melee combat based on instructions provided by his answering machine.
Sales for the Playstation Vita held strong in the latest sales data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 25,763 units between Oct. 14 and Oct. 20 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 60,166 the week prior.
The hardware ranked one title in the top 10 for the week, Dangan-Ronpa 1-2: Reload at No. 10.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 3,651 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware ranked last in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 539 units between Oct. 14 and Oct. 20 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 575 units the week prior.
Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V ranked as the No. 24 best-selling title for the week.
Respawn Entertainment and EA Inc. this week said Titanfall for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the PC will be released Mar. 11, 2014.
The title will be sold in a standard edition at $59.99 and a Collector’s Edition SKU that includes an 18-inch Atlus Titan Statue with battery-powered LED lighting, 190-page art book, and Atlas Titan schematic poster at $249.99.
Developed by Respawn Entertainment, Titanfall will include ground and mech combat. The title will include a single player campaign and multiplayer mode.
Microsoft this week released new titles to the Xbox Live Arcade division of the Xbox 360.
New titles include: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate at $14.99, How to Survive at $14.99 and Dark Pulse at $9.99.
Microsoft this week said PBS and Fox News content is now available via the Xbox Live division of the Xbox 360.
PBS content includes full-length episodes and clips from PBS programs and local PBS stations.
Fox News content includes news stories in politics, entertainment, health and technology.

Developed by WB Games Montréal, Batman: Arkham Origins includes an expanded Gotham City and feature a less-experienced Batman.
The title takes place prior to the events in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City.
Retailer Best Buy Co. Inc. this week began offering a $30 or $50 bonus with the purchase of a select Xbox 360 console in a new retail initiative.
This week, customers who purchase the Xbox 360 250GB SKU or 4GB with Kinect SKU will receive a $50 Gift Card at no additional cost.
In addition, customers who purchase the 4GB console will receive a $30 Gift Card at no additional cost.

Microsoft this week announced new vehicles to be included in Forza Motorsport 5 for the Xbox One.

Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released the Gameplay Launch Trailer for Call of Duty: Ghosts for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the PC.
The trailer features a cinematic look at final gameplay elements found in the title.
Call of Duty: Ghosts, developed by Infinity Ward, will include an all-new story, all-new characters, and a next-generation Call of Duty engine.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware dropped below 3,000 units sold in new weekly Japan retail data.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 2,999 units between Oct. 14 and Oct. 20 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.
It sold 3,276 units the week prior.
The Wii sold 806 units in the same period.
Nintendo this week said it will sell the New Super Mario Bros U Wii U Deluxe Set Nov. 1.
The bundle SKU will include the 32GB Wii U console and New Super Mario Bros. U and New Super Luigi U on one disc at $299.99.
In addition, it will sell the new Wii U bundle that includes Activision Publishing Inc.’s Skylanders Swap Force Nov. 15.
The bundle will include the Wii U Basic system, Skylanders Swap Force Starter Pack, and a Nintendo Land game disc at $299.99.
The Skylanders Swap Force Wii U SKU includes touch screen interface with the Wii U GamePad and Off TV functionality.
Nintendo this week released Wii Party U for the Wii U to U.S. retail.
Wii Party U include a Wii Remote Plus controller sells at $49.99.
The title features a medley of 80 mini-games, including 15 Off TV games that can be played solely on the Wii U GamePad, from foosball to baseball.
The Nintendo 3DS ranked as the top hardware in Japan due to strong demand for the handheld.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 154,578 units between Oct. 14 and Oct. 20 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 213,570 the week prior.
Capcom Co. this week released Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies for the Nintendo 3DS to the Nintendo eShop division.
The digital release is set eight since the last appearance of Phoenix Wright in courtroom.
Characters include Phoenix Wright, Attorney Apollo Justice and new Associate Attorney Athena Cykes. With Athena’s ‘Mood Matrix’ players can detect the emotional state of a witness to compare it to actual testimony.
The final game includes new 3D graphics to allow users to zoom in to collect evidence and subsequently question witnesses and present their case.
Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week began selling Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 3DS XL handhelds directly to consumers following a multi-year discontinuation.
This week, the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo 3DS XL held an in-stock status and ships directly from Amazon.com.
Amazon in 2011 discontinued selling the Nintendo 3DS and subsequently all Nintendo hardware after it placed the 3DS under review after consumer complaints regarding the hardware hinge.
Following the disclaimer, the retailer only sold Nintendo hardware via third-party sellers.
