Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS ranked as the top hardware in Japan in conjunction with the release of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 213,570 units between Oct. 7 and Oct. 13 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 122,987 the week prior.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y ranked as the No. 1 software for the week selling 1.86 million copies at launch.

The Nintendo 3DS sold 1.4 million hardware units and 11.01 million software units in the quarter.

The company cited strong Q1 sales of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Nintendo in Sept. will release the Nintendo 3DS XL Pokemon X & Y SKUs at $199.99.
