Nintendo Co. this week said sales for the Wii U hardware increased 200 percent at U.S. retail in Sept. post $50 price cut.
The company price cut the Wii U hardware in Sept. by $50 in an effort to increase slow sales. The Basic Set SKU sells at $199.99 and the Deluxe Set SKU sells at $249.99.
In Sept. it began sale of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Wii U Deluxe Bundle at $299.99.
For the three month period ending June 30, the company recorded a net profit of $87.93 million and revenue of $831 million.
The Wii U sold 160,000 hardware units and 1.03 million software units in the first quarter. It has sold 3.91 million units worldwide to date.
Nintendo maintains a forecast of nine million units sold by fiscal Mar. 2014.
New titles to be sold include Super Mario 3D World.
