Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS and Capcom Co.’s Monster Hunter 4 held top ranks at Japan retail for the second consecutive week.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 159,388 units between Sept. 16 and Sept. 22 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 276,792 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked seven titles in the top 10, including Monster Hunter 4 at No. 1, selling 2.18 million units in the region to date.
In addition, Friend Collection: New Life ranked at No. 4 and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team at No. 5, Disney Magic Castle at No. 6, and Nobunaga’s Ambition at No. 7.
The Nintendo 3DS sold 1.4 million hardware units and 11.01 million software units in the quarter.
The company cited strong Q1 sales of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Nintendo in Sept. will release the Nintendo 3DS XL Pokemon X & Y SKUs at $199.99.
