Microsoft Corp. this week said it will release the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 Oct. 22 to U.S. retail.
The Surface 2 is an update to the Surface RT and features a new Nvidia Tegra 4 1.7Ghz ARM CPU, 1080p resolution display, two-position kickstand, 2GB RAM, 10-hour battery life, USB 3.0, 3.5MP front camera, and new Outlook RT software.
It will be sold at $449.
The Surface Pro 2 includes an Intel Core i5 1.6Ghz Haswell CPU, 4 or 8GB RAM, up to 512GB Flash Storage, and up to 60 percent longer battery life.
It will be sold at $899 and up.
Touch Cover and Type Cover accessories have been upgraded to include backlight functionality, added sensors to the Touch Cover, and a thinner build for the Type Cover.
New accessories include the Docking Station for Surface Pro with Mini DisplayPort video output, three USB 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port, an Ethernet port, and 3.5mm audio in and out.
