Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 12,146 units between Sept. 9 to Sept. 15 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 13,790 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked three titles in the top 10, including AKB1/149: Love Election at No. 2, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle at No. 7 and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist at No. 9.
Sony this week released the Playstation 3 500GB Grand Theft Auto V Bundle to U.S. retail.
The PS3 500GB GTA V Bundle includes the PS3 500GB hardware and a copy of Grand Theft Auto V at $269.99.
Digital Extremes this week said Warframe for the Playstation 4 will utilize new Dualshock 4 controller technology.
Functionality includes mission briefs that emit through the controller speaker, light bar flickers between blue green and red to indicate damage, and unique powers mapped to the touch pad.
Developed by Digital Extremes, the free-to-play action combat title features solo and cooperative functionality and touch pad control options like a swipe to charge at an opponent.
Sony this week detailed the Assault class in the multiplayer component for Killzone: Shadow Fall for the Playstation 4.
Assault class players head the offensive with five primary weapons. In addition to the Nano Shield ability, users can choose one of three secondary abilities, including Speed Dash, Stun Blast, and Buddy Drone.
Killzone: Shadow Fall, to be sold in Nov., is set thirty years after the events of the Killzone trilogy.
Sony this week said ICO and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories is now available in the Playstation Plus Instant Game Collection.
Both titles are available to download at no cost for PS Plus members.
ICO sells at $19.99 and GTA: Liberty City Stories sells at $19.99 for non-members.
Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week announced the Black Armor Pre-order Edition and the Collector’s Edition for Dark Souls II.
Pre-order customers will receive the Black Armor Edition which includes a metal case with the game disc and the official soundtrack.
The Collector’s Edition Will include the 12-inch Warrior Knight figurine, art book, color fabric map at $119.99.
Dark Souls II, to be sold Mar. 11, will include a brand new game engine, new monsters and bosses, additional customization options and cooperative and competitive gameplay.

Vivid Games this week released Real Boxing to the Playstation Vita.
Developed by Vivid Games, Real Boxing is a boxing simulation title that allows users to create a custom boxer and take him from amateur to pro.
The final game includes multiplayer functionality , tournaments based on leaderboard rankings, and Unreal Engine 3 graphics.
It sells at $9.99.
XSEED Games this week released the Story Trailer for Valhalla Knights for the Playstation Vita.
The trailer features the story aspect of the final game and includes brief gameplay footage.
Valhalla Knights 3, to be sold Oct. 15, is an action RPG that includes real-time seven-on-seven party-based combat.
Atlus Inc. this week released Patch 1.02 for Dragon’s Crown for the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Vita.
Fixes includes improved gameplay stability, option to join random online games, enhanced character visibility, story progression saves for all characters (PS3), and adjusted Skill effects for all classes.
Developed by Vanillaware, Dragon’s Crown is a 2D action RPG that includes four-player co-op functionality.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware held in the 200-unit range in new sales data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 244 units between Sept. 9 and Sept. 15 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 201 units the week prior.
Rockstar Games this week said Grand Theft Auto V generated $800 million in the first 24 hours of sale in global retail.
The $800 million in revenue equates to an estimated 13 to 14 million copies sold.
Grand Theft Auto V is set in a present-day Southern California location and is the largest and most thriving world in the city of Los Santos.
DICE this week confirmed EA Inc.’s Battlefield 4 for the Xbox One will include 64-player matches at 60 frames-per-second.
The developer said the Xbox One version will include 60 frames-per-second fidelity without sacrifice to Battlefield features including vehicular warfare, destruction, large maps, and team play.
Battlefield 4 will include new sea vehicles, indoor and outdoor warfare, environmental destruction, and the ability to command AI soldiers to focus fire on an individual or group of enemies.
Toys R Us Inc. this week listed the Xbox One console as a top product in the company’s annual Hot Holiday Toy List.
The company, which identifies 15 products for customers each year, cited the console as generating a lot of excitement before release.
Each Xbox One will include a Kinect camera, which will allow consumers of all ages to participate in motion-based games out of the box.
The Xbox One will launch Nov. 22 in the U.S. at $499.99.
Microsoft this week released the Tokyo Game Show trailer for Crimson Dragon for the Xbox One.
The trailer features gameplay footage and brief story narration.
Developed by Grounding Inc., Crimson Dragon is a third-person flight action title spiritual successor to the Panzer Dragoon franchise.
The final game will include six types of dragons, more than 100 skills and three-player online co-op functionality.
Microsoft Corp. this week said Forza Motorsport 5 for the Xbox One will run in top native high-definition resolution at launch.
This week, Aaron Greenberg, Chief of Staff for Devices and Studios Group at Microsoft, tweeted the racing simulation sequel will run in native 1080p resolution.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked fifth in the latest weekly Japan retail data.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 5,003 units between Sept. 9 and Sept. 15 to rank at No. 5 in overall sales.
It sold 5,702 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10.
The Wii sold 962 units in the same period.
Nintendo this week said it will release Wii Sports Club for the Wii U at the Nintendo eShop Nov. 7.
The first two sports – bowling and tennis – will be available as free trial downloads. After the 24-hour trial period users can purchase a day pass for a 24-hour play session for all available sports or purchase the full individual sporting event at $9.99 each.
Wii Sports Club will include all sports event from Wii Sports – bowling, tennis, baseball, boxing, and golf – with HD graphics, enhanced Wii MotionPlus controls, and new online competitive functionality.
Nintendo this week said it will release Wii Fit U as a free trial download beginning Nov. 1.
The full game download will be available between Nov. 1 and Jan. 31, 2014 to allow users to try the software for one month.
Users can keep the title past the one month trial by purchasing the Fit Meter accessory. The Fit Meter includes a pedometer, measures step intensity and altitude, and syncs with Wii Fit U to provide a full activity report. It will be sold in Black or Silver at $19.99 Nov. 1.
Wii Fit U will include 77 different activities, including 19 new training activities. The packaged SKU will be sold Dec. 13 at U.S. retail and as a full game download via the Nintendo eShop Feb. 14, 2014.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 276,792 units between Sept. 9 and Sept. 15 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 78,300 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked four titles in the top 10, including Monster Hunter 4 at No. 1 selling 1.71 million copies at launch.
Friend Collection: New Life ranked at No. 4 and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team at No. 6, and Disney Magic Castle ranked at No. 8 in the same period.
Atlus Inc. this week released the demo for Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS.
The dungeon-crawler, to be sold Oct. 1, will include a first-person Story Mode with five pre-made characters and new dungeon layouts and floors.
Capcom Co. this week said Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies for the Nintendo 3DS will be released to the Nintendo eShop division Oct. 24.
The title will be sold at $29.99.
The digital release is set eight since the last appearance of Phoenix Wright in courtroom.
