Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS conquered retail charts in Japan with the release of Capcom Co.’s Monster Hunter 4.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 276,792 units between Sept. 9 and Sept. 15 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 78,300 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked four titles in the top 10, including Monster Hunter 4 at No. 1 selling 1.71 million copies at launch.
Friend Collection: New Life ranked at No. 4 and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team at No. 6, and Disney Magic Castle ranked at No. 8 in the same period.
The Nintendo 3DS sold 1.4 million hardware units and 11.01 million software units in the quarter.
The company cited strong Q1 sales of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Nintendo in Sept. will release the Nintendo 3DS XL Pokemon X & Y SKUs at $199.99.
