Rockstar Games this week said Grand Theft Auto V for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and the PC generated $800 million in the first 24 hours of sale in global retail.
The $800 million in revenue equates to an estimated 13 to 14 million copies sold.
Grand Theft Auto V is set in a present-day Southern California location and is the largest and most thriving world in the city of Los Santos.
Each of the three main characters holds specific attributes. Michael is an ex-bank robber who can slow down time to target during gun fights, Franklin is hired muscle who can drive and take sharp corners with a similar slow down technique, and Trevor is a loose cannon that can fly into a rage to take less damage and perform a unique melee attack.
The Special Edition will include GTA V, collectible Steelbook Case with exclusive artwork, blueprint map and four pieces of digital content at $79.99.
The Collector’s Edition includes GTA V, collectible Steelbook Case with exclusive artwork, Blueprint Map, New Era 9Fifty Snapback Cap, Security Deposit Bag with Logo Key, and six pieces of digital content at $149.99.
