Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS held the No. 1 hardware rank in the latest Japan retail data.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 79,191 units between Sept. 2 and Sept. 8 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 67,022 the week prior.

The 3DS ranked four titles in the top 10, and Friend Collection: New Life at No. 6 and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team at No. 7.

The Nintendo 3DS sold 1.4 million hardware units and 11.01 million software units in the quarter.

The company cited strong Q1 sales of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Nintendo in Sept. will release the Nintendo 3DS XL Pokemon X & Y SKUs at $199.99.
