Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 14,331 units between Aug. 12 to Aug. 18 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 12,228 units the week prior.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked second in the latest retail data from Japan.
Sony this week said it will release the Playstation 4 hardware Nov. 15 in the U.S. and Nov. 29 in Europe.
The hardware will be sold in 32 countries this holiday.
In addition, the hardware has sold 1 million units in pre-order sales in global territories.
The PS4 will be sold at $399.99.
Sony this week said a total of 33 titles will be release for the Playstation 4 by the end of 2013.
The launch window lineup includes 15 Blu-ray disc titles and digital download titles.
The company said there are more than 180 titles in development for the PS4, including Destiny, Diablo III, Mad Max, Witcher 3, The Division, and Infamous: Second Son.
Sony this week said it will release Dualshock 4 controller variations for the Playstation 4 this year.
Dualshock 4 variations include Magma Red and Wave Blue SKUs to be sold at $59.99 by the end of the year.
Each controller features a two-toned look and will be sold in conjunction with the standard black Dualshock 4 controller.
Sony this week released the Gamescom Trailer for DriveClub for the Playstation 4.
The trailer features in-cockpit racing action from the final game.
Devolver Digital this week said it will release Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number to the Playstation 4 and the Playstation Vita.
The title is said to utilize hardware-specific features from each platform.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number will follow the escalating violence from multliple factions which began in the first title.
Sony this week began sale of the Playstation 3 12GB SKU at $199.99.
The SKU includes the latest slim PS3 model and a Dualshock 3 controller at under $200.
In addition, Best Buy Co. Inc. stores this week is selling the PS3 12GB SKU with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and The Last of Us at $259.98.
Sony this week said it will release Gran Turismo 6 for the Playstation 3 Dec. 6.
Gran Turismo 6 will include 1,200 vehicles, including all the cars GT5. In addition, the title will feature 33 tracks with 71 different layouts, including all the tracks from GT5. New tracks include the UK Silverstone Circuit.
Atlus Inc. this week said it will release AquaPazza to the Playstation 3 Nov. 13.
AquaPazza is a 2D fighter that includes characters from developer AquaPlus’ previous titles, including Tears to Tiara, ToHeart and Utawarerumono.
The final game will include 13 characters, combo-based combat system, partner attacks, and chain attacks, in addition to online fighting functionlality.
Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 19,363 units between Aug. 12 and Aug. 18 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 17,639 the week prior.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 7,616 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.
Sony this week price cut the Playstation Vita Wi-Fi SKU to under $200 in a permanent price reduction.
The PS Vita Wi-Fi SKU and 3G SKU now hold an MSRP of $199.99.
In addition, the PS Vita 4GB Memory Card now sells at $14.99, the 8GB at $19.99, 16GB at $39.99 and 32GB at $79.99.
Atlus Inc.’s Dragon’s Crown ranked at No. 11 for the week. It has sold 148,563 units to date in the region.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware held the No. 7 rank in new sales data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 322 units between Aug. 12 and Aug. 18 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 275 units the week prior.
Microsoft this week said it will have 23 first and third-party retail and online titles available at launch for the Xbox One console.
Launch titles include Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Crimson Dragon, FIFA 14, Fighter Within, Just Dance 2014, Titanfall, Killer Instinct, Forza Motorsport 5, LEGO: Marvel Super Heroes, Lococycle, Ryse: Son of Rome, and Dead Rising 3, Madden NFL 25, NBA 2K14, Need for Speed Rivals, Peggle 2, Powerstar Golf, Skylanders: Swap Force, Watch Dogs, Zoo Tycoon, and Zumba Fitness.
Retail stores this week began pre-order sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Forza Motorsport 5 Limited Edition SKU for the Xbox One.
The Limited Edition SKU will include the Limited Edition Car Pack with five cars, VIP Membership with exclusive benefits like 2x player reward acceleration and access to the VIP Car Pack, Day One Car Pack, SteelBook Case, and Decal Sheet at $79.99.
Capcom Co. this month released the Cinematic Trailer for Dead Rising 3 for the Xbox One.
The trailer features a CG film that includes the lead and a sub-character trying to survive a mob of zombies.
In Dead Rising 3, users control Nick Ramos through a zombie-infested Los Perdidos, California. The title will include various neighborhoods that users can scavenge to pick up weapons or combine to form new weapons.
Amazon.com Inc. this week began offering a program for Xbox 360 owners to upgrade their game title to the Xbox One version for $9.99.
In the new offer, customers who trade in a select Xbox 360 game will receive a $25 Bonus Credit toward the same title on the Xbox One in addition to a trade-in value of at least $25.00.
Capcom Co.’s DuckTales: Remastered is a rich HD update to the 8-bit classic that features redrawn sprites, new voice overs, and challenging gameplay in a FINAL Review.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 12,047 units between Aug. 12 and Aug. 18 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.
It sold 9,950 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked one title in the top 10, Pikmin 3 at No. 9 selling 10,956 units to total 165,660 units sold in Japan. The title ranked at No. 10 week prior.
The Wii sold 1,373 units in the same period.
The Nintendo 3DS held the No. 1 hardware rank in the latest Japan retail data.
Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 70,997 units between Aug. 12 and Aug. 18 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 57,771 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked eight titles in the top 10, including Bandai Namco Games’ Disney Magic Castle at No. 1, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team at No. 2, One Piece: Romance Dawn at No. 3, and Friend Collection: New Life at No. 3.
