Best Buy Co. Inc. this week began offering a $50 bonus with the purchase of Nintendo Co.’s Wii U console in a new retail initiative.

This week, customers who purchase the Wii U Deluxe Set will receive a $50 Gift Card at no additional cost.

The Wii U sold 160,000 hardware units and 1.03 million software units in the first quarter. It has sold 3.91 million units worldwide to date.

Nintendo maintains a forecast of nine million units sold by fiscal Mar. 2014.

New titles to be sold include Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD.
