Sony Corp. this week released System Software Update 2.60 for the Playstation Vita.

The mandatory update includes the latest security patches, new and revised applications, features, and settings.

New features include easier access to Playstation Network servers to upload or download saved data, the option to play content saved on a connected device like the PS3 or PC without copying content to the PS Vita, and the option to use PS Vita buttons to customize the Home Screen.

The PS Vita and PSP units sold 600,000 combined in the three-month period between Apr. and June 2013.

Sony forecasts sales of five million PS Vita and PSP units by fiscal Mar. 2014.
