Nintendo Co. this week reported a profit in the first quarter despite weak sales of the Wii U console.
For the three month period ending June 30, the company recorded a net profit of $87.93 million and revenue of $831 million.
The Wii U sold 160,000 hardware units and 1.03 million software units in the quarter. It has sold 3.91 million units worldwide to date.
Nintendo maintains a forecast of nine million units sold by fiscal Mar. 2014.
The Nintendo 3DS sold 1.4 million hardware units and 11.01 million software units in the quarter.
The company cited strong sales of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, and Donkey Kong Country Returns.
