Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked fourth in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 11,413 units between July 15 to July 21 to rank No. 4 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 12,698 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked one title in the top 10, Earth Defense Force 2025 at No. 6.

Pre-order sales for Launch Day Bundles that include the Playstation 4 dominated the sales ranks at Amazon.com Inc. post restock of the hardware SKUs.

This week, the PS4 Watch Dogs Launch Day Bundle ranked at No. 1 and the PS4 Battlefield 4 Launch Day PS Plus Bundle ranked at No. 3 at Amazon’s Video Games division.

Amazon this week restocked launch day bundles guaranteed to ship at the hardware release date.

NIS America Inc. this week released the Official Trailer Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness for the Playstation 3 Oct. 8 in the U.S. and Sept. 27 in Europe.

The Official Trailer features an overview of the characters and gameplay from the title.

The strategy title includes the trio from the first entry – Laharl, Etna, and Flonne in a brand new storyline.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc. this week said it will publish CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in the U.S.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt a world 35 times larger than The Witcher 2: Assassin’s of Kings.

The final game will include redesigned combat mechanics and skirmish system.

Sony this week said Metal Slug XX for the PS Vita and the PSP is now available at no cost to Playstation Plus members.

The standard price is $19.99.

Metal Slug XX features trademark 2D shooting action and includes characters Marco, Tarma, Fio, Eri, Ralf, and Clark against General Morden and his new rebel army.

Sony this week began the Playstation Store Play 2013 program.

The first title to be released in the Play 2013 program, Stealth Inc.: A Clone In The Dark, is now available for purchase at at $9.99 or $7.99 PS Plus.

Upcoming titles in the program include Cloudberry Kingdom (July 30) at $9.99 or $7.99 PS Plus, ibb & obb (Aug. 6), and DuckTales: Remastered (Aug. 13) at $14.99 or $11.99 PS Plus.

Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked second in the latest retail data from Japan.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 14,392 units between July 15 and July 21 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.

By comparison, the hardware sold 15,662 the week prior.

The PS Vita ranked one title in the top 10, Toukiden at No. 7.

Meanwhile, the PSP sold 5,719 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware held the No. 7 rank in new sales data from Japan.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 420 units between July 15 and July 21 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 396 units the week prior.

Microsoft this week said it will offer a self publishing option for independent developers of the Xbox One hardware.

The program will allow small developers to publish titles that utilize all components of the hardware, including Kinect, the cloud, and Achievements.

The company will provide further details in Aug.

The Xbox One will launch this Nov. in the U.S. at $499.99.

Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this month said it will release Soulcalibur II Online HD to the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Developed by Project Soul, Soulcalibur II HD Online will include brand new online functionality and new high-definition graphics.

The online infrastructure will feature brand new netcode and feature all modes from the original release including Arcade, Survival, VS Battle, Time Attack, Survival, Team Battle, Practice, and Weapon Master.

Pre-order sales for Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Xbox One held in the top three at GameStop Corp.’s online division due to building demand.

This week, the Call of Duty: Ghosts Xbox One SKU ranked as the No. 3 best-selling pre-order product at GameStop.com.

Call of Duty: Ghosts, developed by Infinity Ward, will include an all-new story, all-new characters, and a next-generation Call of Duty engine.

Microsoft this week released the Developer Trailer for Forza Motorsport 5 for the Xbox One.

In the interview, developer Turn 10 discusses the goals for development of the title, including 60 frames-per-second graphics fidelity, 1080p resolution, and the inclusion of Indy Car open-wheel racing.

Developed by Turn 10 Studios, Forza Motorsport 5 is racing simulation title to be sold at launch of the Xbox One.

Microsoft this week said Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the Xbox 360 ranked as the top Xbox Live title in the latest activity data.

In the new data, Call of Duty: Black Ops II ranked as the No. 1 Xbox Live title based on number of unique users for the week of July 15.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition ranked at No. 2 and FIFA Soccer 13 ranked at No. 3 in the same period.

Microsoft this week said Minecraft ranked as the top-selling Xbox Live Arcade title in the latest sales data for the division.

For the week of July 15, Minecraft ranked as the No. 1-selling Xbox Live Arcade title based on full versions purchased.

State of Decay ranked at No. 2 and Pacific Rim ranked at No. 3 in the same period.

EA Inc. this week released the Battlelog Trailer for Battlefield 4.

The trailer features Battlelog features including the option to login from the mobile phone or tablet, launch a match from their device, conduct a real-time loadout, and offer a second screen to view a mini-map and execute attack points.

Additional features include Missions to create custom challenges for friends and Geo Leaderboards for geo-localized leaderboards.

Capcom Co. this month released the Developer Trailer for Dead Rising 3 for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One.

The trailer features developer commentary of the making of Dead Rising 3.

In Dead Rising 3, users control Nick Ramos through a zombie-infested Los Perdidos, California. The title will include various neighborhoods that users can scavenge to pick up weapons or combine to form new weapons.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware fell back in the latest weekly Japan retail data.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 14,280 units between July 15 and July 21 to rank at No. 2 in overall sales.

It sold 22,199 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked two titles in the top ten including Pikmin 3 at No. 3 with 28,513 units sold in week two, and New Super Luigi U at No. 8 with 12,132 units in second-week sales.

The Wii sold 1,463 units in the same period.

Activision Blizzard Inc. this week said it will release Call of Duty: Ghosts to the Wii U hardware Nov. 5.

The title will include support for the Wii Remote and Wii U GamePad functionality.

Nintendo this week released Kid Icarus for the Wii U Virtual Console to the Nintendo eShop.

The NES one-player action adventure title includes Off TV functionality.

Namco Bandai Games Inc. this month said it will release Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures to the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and the PC Oct. 29.

The Nintendo 3DS SKU will be sold Nov. 26.

Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, based on the upcoming animated series, is an action-platform title that will include classic ghost encounter elements and brand new power-ups in a revamped Pac-Man universe.

The Nintendo 3DS held the No. 1 hardware rank in the latest Japan retail data.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 57,025 units between July 15 and July 21 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 43,435 the week prior.

The 3DS ranked four titles in the top 10, including Mario & Luigi: Dream Team at No. 1 with 99,772 units sold at launch, Youkai Watch at No. 2, Friend Collection: New Life at No. 5, and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D at No. 10.
