Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked fourth in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 12,698 units between July 8 to July 14 to rank No. 4 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 11,683 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked three titles in the top 10 including Earth Defense Force 2025 at No. 3, Dead Island: Riptide at No. 8 and Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection at No. 9.
Sony this month discounted the Playstation 3 bundle that includes Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto V to $269.99 pre-release of the product SKU.
The PS3 500GB GTA V Bundle, to be sold Sept. 17, will include the PS3 500GB hardware and a copy of Grand Theft Auto V. It previously held an MSRP of $299.99.
Sony this week said Jet Set Radio is now available at no cost to Playstation Plus members at the Playstation Store.
The action graffiti title allows users to grind throughout Tokyo-to and mark their turf with graffiti art.
It sells at $9.99 for non-members.
Sony this week announced four new titles to be released to the Playstation Network under the Playstation Store Play 2013 program.

Customers who pre-order titles will receive additional PSN cash vouchers – $3 for 2 titles purchased, $6 for 3 titles purchased or $10 for 4 titles purchased.
Pre-order sales for Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus to the Playstation 3 began this week at U.S. retail.
The new single-player epilogue is a traditional platform entry in the series that will feature new weapons and gadgets.
The final game will allow users to manipulate gravity to solve puzzles.
It carries a pre-order price of $29.99.
Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week price cut Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Diablo III for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 and Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 in a new pre-order sale initiative.
This week, Diablo III holds a sale price of $49.99, down from the $59.99 MSRP.

This week, Killzone: Shadow Fall ranked as the No. 3 best-selling pre-order title at BestBuy.com.
Killzone Shadow Fall, to be sold in Nov., is set thirty years after the events of the Killzone trilogy.
Sony this month said Gran Turismo 6 for the Playstation 3 will include the Goodwill Hill Climb track.
Hill Climb at Goodwill is featured in the Festival of Speed in England.
Previously announced tracks include Silverstone and Willow Springs.
Gran Turismo 6 will include 1,200 vehicles, including all the cars GT5. In addition, the title will feature 33 tracks with 71 different layouts, including all the tracks from GT5. New tracks include the UK Silverstone Circuit.
NIS America Inc. this week released Time and Eternity for the Playstation 3.
Time and Eternity is a new high-definition RPG that includes hand-drawn characters against CG backdrops.
The final game includes real-time turn-based battles and weapons like swords, guns and time control.
Sony this week released the Developer Trailer for Infamous: Second Son for the Playstation 4.
The trailer features developer Sucker Punch in a discussion of the development of the title, including innovation with the Dualshock 4 control to interact with the game.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked third in the latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 15,662 units between July 8 and July 14 to rank as the No. 3 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 20,776 the week prior.
The PS Vita ranked one title in the top 10, Toukiden at No. 6.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 5,830 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware held the No. 7 rank in new sales data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 396 units between July 8 and July 14 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 313 units the week prior.
Microsoft in July said the Entertainment and Devices division generated $1.8 billion in the fourth quarter, an increase of $134 million from the prior quarter.
Operating income totaled $142 million in Q4.
The Xbox 360 shipped 1 million units in the quarter, down from 1.1 million the year prior.
Microsoft this week said the Xbox 360 ranked as the No. 2 game hardware in U.S. June 2013 sales figures.
The Xbox 360 sold 140,000 units to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the month in figures provided by NPD Group Inc.
Retail spend on the platform totaled $197 million for the month.
Ubisoft Inc. this week said it will released the Watch Dogs Limited Edition Pack for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One and Xbox 360.
The Limited Edition SKU will include the game, Steelbook packaging, official soundtrack, 80-page art book, Aiden Pierce’s Mask, and 9-inch Aiden Pierce Statue at $129.99.
Capcom Co. this week said it will release Ultra Street Fighter IV for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 and the PC in early 2014.
Ultra Street Fighter IV will add five new fighters include Rolento, Poison, Hugo and Elena for a total of 44 characters.
In addition, the download will include six new levels and new character balance updates.
The DLC will update Super Street Fighter IV at $14.99 and be sold in a stand-alone retail disc SKU at $39.99.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment this week said it will release The LEGO Movie Video Game to Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One, Nintendo Co.’s Wii U, and the PC in 2014.
In addition, the title will be sold to the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita.
Developed by TT Games, The LEGO Movie Video Game will be based on the feature film The LEGO Movie. It will include lead character Emmet on a quest to stop an evil tyrant.
Capcom Co. this week said it will release Strider for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the PC in early 2014.
The title, developed by Double Helix, will feature trademark high-speed slash and acrobatic action from the franchise.
The final game will include a large map-based world and 2D / 3D gameplay against enemies and the return of robot allies.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware held climbed in the latest weekly Japan retail data.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 22,199 units between July 8 and July 14 to rank at No. 2 in overall sales.
It sold 8,251 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked two titles in the top ten including Pikmin 3 at No. 1 with 92,720 units sold at launch and New Super Luigi U at No. 5 with 24,881 units sold at launch.
The Wii sold 1,434 units in the same period.
Nintendo this week released Earthbound to the Wii U Nintendo eShop.
The title sells at $9.99 and the Player’s Guide sold with the original title is available to view online and via the Wii U GamePad.
Earthbound is a SNES RPG title in which users control Ness, a boy with strong psychic abilities who must defeat an alien named Giygas.
Nintendo this week said it will release Pokemon Rumble U to the Wii U console Aug. 29.
The download title, which will include every Pokemon though Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2, will be sold exclusively at the Nintendo eShop at $18.00 and allow users to transfer retail toy figures to the title via the Wii U GamePad NFC technology.
The toys, to retail at $4.00 each, will be sold exclusively at GameStop Corp. stores and include trademark characters like Pikachu, Deoxys, Eevee, and Genesect.
Nintendo this week said it will release the demo for Pikmin 3 for the Wii U this weekend to GameStop Corp. stores.
The demo will be available at more than 200 locations and allow customers to preview the upcoming title.
Customers who pre-order the digital version of the title at the store will receive the game one day early.
Pikmin 3, to be sold Aug. 4, will feature an army of Pikmin to command to solve puzzles, battle predators, and recover food.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 43,435 units between July 8 and July 14 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 44,222 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked three titles in the top 10, including Youkai Watch at No. 2, Friend Collection: New Life at No. 4, and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D at No. 10.
Atlus Inc. this week said it will release Etrian Odyssey: Untold The Millenium Girl for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS Oct. 1 to U.S. retail.
The dungeon-crawler will include a first-person Story Mode with five pre-made characters and new dungeon layouts and floors.
