Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 12,554 units between June 24 and June 30 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 9,816 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked four titles in the top 10, including Gundam Breaker No. 1, Toukiden at No. 4, Atelier Escha & Logy at No. 5, The Last of Us at No. 8 and Date A Live at No 10.

Pre-order sales for a bundle that includes the Playstation 4 and Killzone: Shadow Fall ranked as the top-selling product at GameStop Corp.’s online division due to strong demand.

This week, the PS4 Killzone: Shadow Fall Basic Bundle ranked as the No. 1 best-selling pre-order product at GameStop.com.

The PS4 will be sold at $399.99 this holiday.

Bungie Inc. this week released the HD Gameplay Demo Trailer for Destiny for the Playstation 4.

The trailer features the reveal of the first-person title in HD.

Sony this week released a demo for Gran Turismo 6 for the Playstation 3 to the Playstation Network division.

The demo will guide users through the GT Academy driving school challenges which include four warm-up races with the Nissan LEAF and 370Z and five time trials on the Silverstone Track with the 370Z.

In addition, the demo offers the chance for users to qualify for the Nissan GT Academy Team.


Konami Corp.’s Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection for the Playstation 3 ranked in the top 25 pre-order sales at GameStop Corp. this week due to strong demand.

This week, the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection ranked as the No. 22 best-selling pre-order product in at GameStop.com.

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection, to be sold July 9, will include eight complete titles – Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid 1, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions.

Sony this month released new game titles to the Instant Game Collection to Playstation Plus members.

New free titles include Battlefield 3 and Jet Set Radio for the Playstation 3, and Metal Slug XX, Dokuro, and Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD for the PS Vita.

Playstation Plus membership offers discounted games, cloud saves, automatic game updates, early access to beta programs, and the Instant Game Collection.

Atlus Inc. this week detailed customization options in Dragon’s Crown for the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Vita.

Customization options found in the final game include name edits, five color pallets per character, English and Japanese combat voices, and option to switch analog movement via the D-Pad.

Developed by Vanillaware, Dragon’s Crown is a 2D action RPG that includes four-player co-op functionality.

Sales for the Playstation Vita jumped in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 31,271 units between June 24 and June 30 to rank as the No. 2 hardware for the week.

By comparison, the hardware sold 13,422 the week prior.

The PS Vita ranked one title in the top 10, Toukiden at No. 2 selling 122,794 units at launch.

Meanwhile, the PSP sold 6,492 units to rank at No. 5 in the same period.

Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week price cut Soul Sacrifice for the Playstation Vita to under $30 in a new retail initiative.

This week, Soul Sacrifice holds a discount price of $29.99, 25 percent off the $39.99 MSRP.

The third-person action RPG title includes melee combat and magic functionality in solo or four-player co-op battles.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware totaled above 300 units in new sales data from Japan.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 330 units between June 24 and June 30 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 282 units the week prior.

Pre-order sales for the Xbox One Day One Edition SKU took back the No. 1 rank at GameStop Corp.’s online division post availability of the stand-alone SKU.

This week, the Xbox One Day One Edition ranked as the No. 1 best-selling product in GameStop.com’s Pre-order division.

The product previously held the No. 1 rank and was shortly made unavailable for purchase. The hardware is sold in stand-alone and bundle configurations at the retailer.

The Xbox One Day One Edition includes the Xbox One hardware, Kinect camera, Day One Controller, Xbox Live 14-Day Trial, Day One Achievement, Premium Packaging and Decal at $499.99.

Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released the Call of Duty: Black Ops II Vengeance DLC to the Xbox Live division.

Uprising includes four new multiplayer maps – Cove, Detour, Rush and Uplink.

In addition, the DLC includes Buried, an extension to the Zombies component.

It sells at 1200 Microsoft Points.

Microsoft this week said Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the Xbox 360 ranked as the top Xbox Live title in the latest activity data.

In the new data, Call of Duty: Black Ops II ranked as the No. 1 Xbox Live title based on number of unique users for the week of June 17.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition ranked at No. 2 and FIFA Soccer 13 ranked at No. 3 in the same period.

XSEED Games this week said Killer Is Dead for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 will be sold Aug. 27.

Launch copies of the title will include an 80-page hardcover art book, soundtrack CD, Smooth Operator DLC Pack, alternate costume for Vivienne and Mika, bonus ‘Gigolo Mission’ with Betty, and additional episode with Sebastian at $59.99.

Killer Is Dead, developed by Kadokawa Games and Grasshopper Manufacture, is an action title in which users wield a sword a biomechanical arm with interchangeable weapons to fulfill contracts and rid the world of criminals.

Microsoft this week began holding the Ultimate Game Sale in the Xbox Live division.

Discounted titles through July 8 include Brothers In Arms: Hell’s Highway at $4.99, Crysis at $4.99, WWE ’13 at $14.99, Mass Effect at $4.99, Bulletstorm at $4.99, and Dragon Age Origins at $4.99.

Rockstar Games this month published new details for Grand Theft Auto V.

The city of Los Santos is larger than GTA IV, San Andreas, and Red Dead Redemotion combined. In addition, users can explore the entire world from the beginning of the game.

Each of the three main characters holds specific attributes. It sold 5,329 units the week prior.

The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10.

The Wii sold 1,338 units in the same period.

Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week price cut Capcom Co.’s Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for the Wii U by 42 percent in a new retail initiative.

This week, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate holds a sale price of $34.99, $25 off the $59.99 MSRP.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate includes touch-screen access to inventory and more than 200 quests.

New Super Luigi U ranked in the top 25 pre-order sales at Best Buy Co. Inc.’s online division this week due to building demand for the retail SKU.

This week, New Super Luigi U ranked as the No. 24 best-selling product in BestBuy.com’s Video Games division.

New Super Luigi U, to be sold Aug. 25, includes 82 updated courses and new playable character Nabbit. It will be sold at $29.99.

The Nintendo 3DS held the No. 1 hardware rank in the latest Japan retail data.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 50,712 units between June 24 and June 30 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 43,269 the week prior.

The 3DS ranked four titles in the top 10, including Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl at No. 3, Digimon World: Re: Digitize Decode at No. 6, Friend Collection: New Life at No. 7, and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D at No. 9.
