Nintendo Co. this month demonstrated The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for the Wii U at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
The preview build included a boss battle against a giant eagle in which users could utilize new GamePad functionality, from gyroscopic grappling hook aim to using the touch screen to drag a potion to a designated button.
The controls were solid and retained the feel and charm of the original GameCube release.
The graphics engine was sharp at 30 frames-per-second. The cel-shaded world held bright and clear visuals against the signature artwork from the entry.
The title, to be sold in Oct., will feature the entry’s trademark cel-shading in updated high-definition graphics and new Wii U GamePad functionality.
The final game will include Miiverse functionality that allows users to send and receive bottle messages.
