Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week demonstrated Dark Souls II for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3, Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360, and the PC at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Dark Souls II features a brand new game engine which is said to include enhanced lighting and motion capture. In addition, the sequel includes persistent bonfire warping to streamline travel.
Enemies remain difficult and relay multiple swings that can take out nearly the entire lifebar.
Enemy AI is improved with the ability to refute rear attacks. For example, bi-pedal turtle enemy will intentionally fall on its back when attacked from behind.
The graphics engine is solid at 30 frames-per-second. The title maintains a moody atmosphere with haunting enemies and dim lit indoor environments.
Dark Souls II will be sold in 2013.
