Sony Corp. this week increased internal sales estimates for the Playstation 4 amid strong pre-order demand for the hardware.

The Wall Street Journal this week reported Sony is shifting internal sales projections due to favorable reactions from the company’s press conference on Mon.

The PS4 ranked as the best-selling product in Inc.’s Video Games division this week due to strong demand.

This week, the Playstation 4 Launch Edition held a sold out status at Amazon’s Video Games division.

The Standard Edition is now available for pre-order at $399.96.

The PS4 hardware will utilize a PC-like architecture with a x86-based AMD Jaguar 8-core CPU, a 1.84 TLFOPS AMD next-generation Radeon GPU, and GDDR5 8GB RAM. IN addition the hardware will feature a 6X Blu-ray disc drive, USB 3.0 interface, Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, and digital output.

The DualShock 4 controller will include a new touch pad, share button, options button, built-in mono speaker, headphone jack, and light bar that will interact with a new PS4 Eye camera to track the controller. The PS4 Eye will feature 1280 x 800 60 frames-per-second functionality, with up to 320 x 192 resolution at 240 frames-per-second.

New titles announced for the PS4 include Killzone Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Infamous: Second Son, and The Witness.

Third-party titles include Capcom Co.’s Deep Down, Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Final Fantasy, Ubisoft Inc.’s Watch Dogs, and Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Diablo III and Destiny.

The company said games can be traded-in, sold, leant, or kept forever without restriction.

In addition, the PS4 hardware does not require an online connection, require an online check in, or require authentication.
