Nintendo Co. this week demonstrated Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
New to Mario Kart 8 are vehicle transformations that allow each kart to race through anti-gravity tracks. In the preview build users could drive against the wall, paraglide after a jump, and cruise underwater.
The controls were solid with the GamePad and gyroscopic functionality.
The graphics engine excelled at 60 frames-per-second in single-player and split-screen mode with well-rendered characters, vibrant locals, and sharp special effects.
Mario Kart 8 will be sold in spring 2014.
