Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked second in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 13,318 units between May 20 and May 26 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 10,948 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked three titles in the top 10, including Capcom Co.’s Resident Evil Revelations at No. 3, which sold 102,673 units at launch.

Sony this week said Playstation 4 titles will utilize the PS Vita Remote Play function by default.

Shuhei Yoshida, President of Worldwide Studios, Sony Computer Entertainment, this week confirmed all PS4 titles will utilize the Remote Play feature, which allows users to transfer gameplay to the PS Vita handheld, except for titles that require a specific hardware feature like a camera.

Sony this week said the Playstation 4 will battle against the Xbox One with games, social and online functionality.

Kaz Hirai, president and CEO Sony Corp., told CNBC this week that the company will deliver the best games to customers and functionality.

Sony this week said The Last of Us Season Pass for the Playstation 3 will include three DLC packs at $19.99.

The Last of Us Season Pass will include access to one campaign and two multiplayer DLC packs, in addition to day one bonus product like increased crafting speed, healing speed, 9mm reload speed upgrade, rifle clip capacity upgrade, and a 90-minute ‘Making of the Last of Us’ documentary.

In addition, The Last of Us demo is now available for God of War: Ascension owners.

The Last of Us demo features the Outskirts level, in which users will encounter multiple infected enemies.

EA Inc. this week released Fuse for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360 to U.S. retail.

Fuse is a new third-person shooter IP by Insomniac Games.

Codemasters this week released Grid 2 for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and the PC to U.S. retail.

Grid 2 includes vehicles from the last 40 years, a separate online campaign, and licensed tracks.

Sales for the Playstation Vita held the No. 3 hardware rank in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold units 12,171 between May 20 and May 26 to rank as the No. 3 hardware for the week.

By comparison, the hardware sold 10,931 the week prior.

It ranked one title in the top 10 for the week, Marvelous AQL’s Valhalla Knights 3 at No. 5, which sold 40,357 units at launch.

Meanwhile, the PSP sold 5,749 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware totaled below 400 units in new sales data from Japan.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 382 units between May 20 to May 26 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 349 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked one title in the top 15 game sales, Capcom Co.’s Resident Evil Revelations, which sold 7,053 units at launch to rank at No. 11.

Amazon.com Inc. this week price cut Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 Spring Value Bundle to under $250 in a new retail initiative.

This week, the Xbox 360 Spring Value Bundle holds a discount price of $249.99, $50 off the $299.99 MSRP.

The Xbox 360 Spring Value Bundle includes the Xbox 360 250GB hardware, Darksiders II and Batman: Arkham City, Xbox 360 Wireless Controller and Headset, and Xbox Live Gold 1-Month Subscription.

Auctions to secure a pre-order for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox One fetched more than $500 on eBay post reveal of the new console.

Auctions ended May 30 received bids of $455, $485, and $510 in an effort to pre-purchase the hardware from sellers prior to release.

Pre-order sales for the Xbox One broke records at Blockbuster LLC’s UK division in a new report.

MCV this week said pre-order demand for the Xbox One has broken all previous pre-order sales in the company’s 24-year history.

Microsoft this week said the May 21 Xbox One reveal drove record-breaking viewership.

The company said more than 8.45 million watched the Xbox One reveal in the first 24 hours. The Xbox.com livestream held three times the amount of traffic versus any prior event held by the site.

In addition, 1.73 million viewed the Xbox reveal broadcast on Spike TV.

Tecmo Koei Games this week said Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z will be released to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2014.

Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z is a new title in the Ninja Gaiden franchise in which the users play as cyborg ninja to battle zombies.

The title is in development at Team Ninja in collaboration with Keiji Inafune, founder of comcept and developer Spark Unlimited.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware ranked fifth in latest weekly Japan retail data.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 5,648 units between May 20 and May 26 to rank at No. 5 in overall sales.

It sold 6,037 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked one title in the top 10 for the week, Capcom Co.’s Resident Evil Revelations, which sold 8,398 units at launch to rank at No. 10.

The Wii sold 1,192 units in the same period.

Resident Evil Revelations for the Wii U ranked in the top three download sales at the Nintendo eShop post release of the title.

This week, Resident Evil Revelations ranked as the No. 3 best-selling digital download product among Wii U titles at the Nintendo eShop.

Nintendo this week said it will sell a new Wii U 32GB Deluxe Set White SKU in Japan July 13.

The 32GB Deluxe Set White SKU will sell at 31,500 yen ($311 US).

The company will concurrently sell the 8GB Basic Set White SKU in the region.

In addition, Nintendo will sell a larger battery pack for the Wii U GamePad. The 2,550mAh battery pack will hold a five to eight hour charge, increased from the prior 1,500mAh battery with a three to five hour charge. It will sell July 25 at 3,150 yen ($35 US).

An official Wii Remote Plus Battery Pack with charger will be sold July 13 at 2,625 yen ($26 US).

Finally, a Nintendo Land Wii Remote Plus Bundle will be sold July 13 at 5,985 yen ($59).

Nintendo this week said it will deploy select E3 titles for the Wii U to select Best Buy Co. Inc. stores in the U.S. and Canada.

A total of 110 Best Buy locations will allow customers to preview upcoming Wii U titles on June 12 between 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and June 15 between 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Sega Corp. this week released the Sonic Lost World Reveal Trailer for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

The trailer features new 3D platforming and traditional 2D side-scrolling action against six new enemies.

The Nintendo 3DS held the No. 1 hardware rank in the latest Japan retail data.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 54,710 units between May 13 and May 19 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 37,124 the week prior.

The 3DS ranked four titles in the top 10, including Atlus Inc.’s Shin Megami Tensei IV at No. 1, which sold 188,562 units at launch.

Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week price cut Nintendo 3DS first-party titles by 25 percent in a new retail initiative.

Titles discounted to $29.99> include New Super Mario Bros. 3D Land, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Mario Kart 7, and New Super Mario Bros. 2.
