Nintendo Co. this week said first-party software sales for the Nintendo 3DS increased 52 percent in 2013 outpacing demand from the year prior.

The company said it sold 2.1 million units of first-party Nintendo 3DS software in the first four months of 2013. By comparison it took 30 weeks to sell two million Nintendo 3DS software units in 2012.

Nintendo in Apr. said the Nintendo 3DS has sold more than 20 million physical game units in the U.S. to date.

The company cited strong sales for new 3DS titles including Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, and Fire Emblem: Awakening.

New upcoming 3DS titles include Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.
