Sony Corp. may not meet internal shipment forecasts for the Playstation 4 in 2013 according to a new report.
The DigiTimes this week said the the company may not meet a forecast of 12 to 16 million PS4 units shipped in 2013 due to related supply chains not having received shipping instructions from the hardware manufactuer.
The report adds Sony it would start PS4 shipments in June with mass shipments in Aug. and a maximum capacity of 20 million units in 2013.
The PS4 hardware, to be sold this holiday, will utilize a PC-like architecture with a x86-based AMD Jaguar 8-core CPU, a 1.84 TLFOPS AMD next-generation Radeon GPU, and GDDR5 8GB RAM. IN addition the hardware will feature a 6X Blu-ray disc drive, USB 3.0 interface, Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, and digital output.
New titles announced for the PS4 include Killzone Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Infamous: Second Son, and The Witness.
Third-party titles include Capcom Co.’s Deep Down, Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Final Fantasy, Ubisoft Inc.’s Watch Dogs, and Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Diablo III and Destiny.
Pricing and release date information for the PS4 will be disclosed at a later date.
