EA Inc. does not plan to release high-profile titles, including Battlefield 4 and Star Wars titles to Nintendo Co.’s Wii U due to lack of support for the company’s Frostbite 3 engine.

DICE Technical Director for Frostbite Johan Andersson tweeted this week that the Frostbite 3 has never been running on Wii U and that it conducted not too promising results on the hardware with the Frostbite 2 engine.

Battlefield 4 and Star Wars titles, in addition to Mass Effect 4 and Dragon Age III will all utilize the Frostbite 3 engine.

Nintendo sold 3.45 million Wii U consoles by Mar., lower than the four million target forecast. It expects the Wii U to sell nine million units by the next fiscal year and 38 million Wii U software units due to a strong second-half lineup.

Nintendo will release new franchise titles to drive Wii U sales, including a new Mario 3D title, Mario Kart, Mario Party, and The Legend of Zelda The Wind Waker remake.
