Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.
Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 13,915 units between Apr. 15 and Apr. 21 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 14,039 units to rank at No. 4 the week prior.
The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10, including Naruto Shippuden: Narutimate Storm 3 at No. 2 and One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 at No. 8.
Sony this week released the Dualshock 4 trailer for the Playstation 4.
The trailer features developers discussing key features of the Dualshock 4, including the light bar to track the position of the player, and the Share button to relay screenshots and video to friends.
Konami Corp. this week said it will release the Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection for the Playstation 3 to U.S. retail this June.
The package will include Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition (which includes the original MSX versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2), Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid: VR MISSIONS and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition. In addition, the collection will also include two Ashley Wood digital graphic novels.
Atlus Inc. this week said it will release Dragon’s Crown to the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Vita Aug. 6.
Developed by Vanillware, Dragon’s Crown 2D action RPG that includes four-player co-op functionality.
Activision Blizzard Inc. this week said it will release the Call of Duty: Black Ops II Uprising DLC to Playstation Network and the PC May 16.
Uprising includes four new multiplayer maps – Magma, Encore, Vertigo, and Studio, in addition to a reimagined Firing Range map and the new Mod of the Dead mode.
It will be sold at $14.99.
Bethesda Softworks this week said it will release The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Legendary Edition June 4.
The release will include the best-selling title in addition to post-release DLC content Dragonborn, Hearthfire, and Dawnguard.
Capcom Co. this week released Multiplayer details for Lost Planet 3.
The title will feature four multiplayer modes including Scenario Mode for teams to compete to complete offensive or defensive challenges and Akrid Survival for two teams of three to beat waves of Akrid before a head-to-head elimination round.
Sales for the Playstation Vita held the No. 2 hardware rank in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 15,011 units between Apr. 15 and Apr. 21 to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 14,112 the week prior.
The PS Vita did not rank any titles in the top 10 for the week.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 7,816 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.
Sony this week released the pre-order trailer for Soul Sacrifice for the Playstation Vita.
The trailer details pre-order bonus items, including the Dual Costume Pack, Three Magic Items Booster, and Japanese Voice Over Pack.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware totaled about 500 units in new sales data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 515 units between Apr. 15 and Apr. 21 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 492 units the week prior.
Monster Hunter Frontier: G1 Premium Package ranked at No. 10 in software sales with 6,042 units sold.
Microsoft this week said it will reveal the Xbox 360 successor May 21.
The company said the reveal will be broadcast at Xbox.com, Xbox Live and Spike TV.
The next Xbox is said to utilize an 8-core AMD CPU at 1.6Ghz and a D3D11.x GPU from an undetermined source. Hard drive capacity is to be determined.

Bethesda Softworks this week released the teaser trailer for The Evil Within, a new survival horror title developed by Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gameworks.
The trailer features a live action collage of a man making barbed wire while various non-human creatures begin to sprout in a dingy facility.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware fell to under 9,000 units in latest weekly Japan retail data.
Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 8,798 units between Apr. 15 and Apr. 21 to rank at No. 4 in overall sales.
It sold 9,984 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10 for the week.
The Wii sold 1,379 units in the same period.
Nintendo this week recorded a $71 million profit in the fiscal year despite slower sales of the Wii U console hardware.
For the year ending Mar. 31, 2013, the company held a net profit of $71.7 million, up from a $531 million loss the year prior.
In addition, it held an operating loss of $366 million for the fiscal year.
Nintendo sold 3.45 million Wii U consoles by Mar., lower than the four million target forecast. It expects the Wii U to sell nine million units by the next fiscal year and 38 million Wii U software units due to a strong second-half lineup.
Ubisoft Inc. this week said it released the first trailer for Splinter Cell: Blacklist for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U.
The trailer feature new hardware-specific game controls including drone control, spy cam operation, weapons and gadgets selection and the ability to mark targets with the Wii U GamePad.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 75,922 units between Apr. 15 and Apr. 21 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 46,723 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked five titles in the top 10, including Friend Collection: New Life at No. 1, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon at No. 4, and Animal Crossing: New Leaf at No. 5.
Nintendo in Apr. forecast 18 million Nintendo 3DS units sold and 80 million units of 3DS software sold this fiscal year.
