Retailer Amazon.com Inc. this week price cut select third-party titles for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U by 50 percent in a new spring sales initiative.
This week, Ubisoft Inc.’s Assassin’s Creed III holds a discount price of $29.99, 50 percent off the $49.99 MSRP.
In addition, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Inc.’s Batman Arkham Asylum Armored Edition holds a sale price of $29.99, down from $49.99.
NPD Group Inc. in Mar. said the Wii U sold 66,000 units in the U.S. in Feb., a small gain from 57,000 units in Jan.
Nintendo in Jan. cut its sales forecast for the fiscal year ending Mar. by 17 percent to $7.38 billion.
The company sold 3.06 million Wii U units through Dec. 2012. It cut its Wii U sales forecast to four million units, down from a previous estimate of 5.5 million units. Wii U software sales were cut one-third to 16 million units.
Nintendo released Wii U, the successor the Wii hardware, to the U.S. market Nov. 18.
