Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked third in Japan in the latest retail figures for the region.

Media Create Co. this month reported the PS3 sold 20,676 units between Mar. 11 and Mar. 17 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.

By comparison, the hardware 19,567 units the week prior.

The hardware ranked four titles in the top 10, including Kindgom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX at No. 2 and God of War: Ascension at No. 8.

Square Enix Holdings Co. this week said it will release the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster to the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Vita.

The remaster will include Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 updated with high-definition graphics.

The title were originally released to the Playstation 2.

The compilation will be released in 2013.

Sony this week released two new characters to Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale for the Playstation 3.

New characters include Isaac Clark from Dead Space and Zeus from God of War. The characters are available at no cost to buyers of God of War: Ascension and at $4.99 each at the Playstation Store.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment’ this week announced the Season Pass option for Injustice: Gods Among Us for the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360.

The Season Pass, to be sold at launch, will allow owners to purchase four characters for the price of three and include a Bonus Flashpoint Skin Pack.

It will sell at $14.99 or 1200 Microsoft Points.

Sales for the Playstation Vita fell to the No. 2 hardware rank in Japan after claiming the top rank the week prior.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 36,028 units between Mar. 11 and Mar. 17 to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the week.

By comparison, the hardware sold 63,581 the week prior.

The PS Vita ranked one title in the top 10, Soul Sacrifice at No. 5.

Meanwhile, the PSP sold 12,721 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.

Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware ranked last against rival hardware in new sales data from Japan.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Xbox 360 sold 543 units between Mar. 11 and Mar. 17 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.

By comparison, the hardware sold 738 units the week prior.

The hardware did not rank any software in the top 10 game sales.

Microsoft this week released Gears of War: Judgment for the Xbox 360 to U.S. retail.

Gears of War: Judgment is set years prior to the events of the Gears of War trilogy.


The title includes a new Smart Spawn System for campaign and multiplayer modes, new class-based competitive mode, and co-op functionality for up to four players.

In addition, Microsoft this week released the Gears of War: Judgment Multiplayer Demo to the Xbox Live division.

The OverRun Multiplayer Demo allows users to rack up XP points that can be transferred to the final game if purchased and played in the first week of release.

Microsoft this week said Redbox Instant by Verizon is now available to Xbox 360 owners.

The new subscription-based service allows Xbox 360 owners to stream a catalog of movies to the console and receive four one-night credits for a Redbox kiosk rental.

Capcom Co. this week said it will release DuckTales Remastered and Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara as digital release titles to consoles and the PC.

DuckTales Remastered is an HD remaster of the classic NES title that will include fully recreated character sprites and backgrounds. In addition, new voice work, some of the original cartoon, will be added to the original soundtrack.

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara will include two arcade titles from Capcom – Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom and Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara.

The double-pack will include updated HD graphics, four-player drop-in, drop-out online co-op functionality, and a new House Rules feature to customize gameplay options.

Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware were stable in the latest weekly Japan retail data.

Media Create Co. this month reported that the Wii U sold 9,539 units between Mar. 11 and Mar. 17 to rank at No. 5 in overall sales.

It sold 9,454 units at launch the week prior.

The hardware ranked did not rank any software titles in the top 10 for the week.

The Wii sold 1,363 units in the same period.


The Nintendo 3DS reclaimed the No. 1 hardware rank in the latest Japan retail data.

Capcom Co. this week released Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS to U.S. retail.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate includes touch-screen access to inventory and more than 200 quests.

In addition, the title allows Wii U and 3DS owners to hunt with each other via local wireless connection and transfer save data between the hardware.

Finally, Capcom. this week said it will released online tools for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

The free online tools, including the Data Transfer Program and the Transfer Relay Tool, allow owners to transfer data between the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS and allow users to play their title online with the 3DS using a Wii U internet connection.

Square Enix Holdings Co. this week said it will release Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut to Nintendo Co.’s Wii U.

Developed by Eidos Montreal, the title will include touch-screen hacking, interactive map editing, augmented sniping, grenade throwbacks and other neural hub enhancements.

In addition, the title is said to include overhauled boss fights, refined game balance and combat, improved AI, and visual improvements.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 69,439 units between Mar. 11 and Mar. 17 to rank as the No. 2 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 61,008 the week prior.

The 3DS ranked four titles in the top 10, including Super Robot Wars UX at No. 3, Animal Crossing: New Leaf at No. 4, Professor Layton and the Legacy of Civilization A at No. 9 and Dragon Quest VII: Fighters of Eden at No. 10.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon for the Nintendo 3DS ranked in the top three pre-order sales at Best Buy Co. Inc.’s online division due to building demand.

This week, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon ranked as the No. 3 best-selling pre-order product in BestBuy.com’s Video Games division.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, to be sold Mar. 24, is the follow-up to the 2001 release for the Nintendo GameCube.

The Pikachu Edition Nintendo 3DS XL handheld system ranked as the top-selling pre-order product at GameStop Corp.’s online division due to strong demand.

This week, the Nintendo 3DS XL Pikachu Limited Edition SKU ranked as the No. 1 pre-order product at GameStop.com.

The hardware, to be sold Mar. 24, will include a bold yellow color and a print of Pikachu and a 4GB SD Memory Card at $199.99.

Capcom this week released Resident Evil 6 for the PC.

The title includes access to characters from Valve Corp.’s Left 4 Dead franchise.

Characters Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle are available in the PC exclusive Mercenaries: No Mercy Mode. Each character will include a special customized weapon loadout. In addition, two Left 4 Dead enemies – Witch and Mini Tank –make a cameo in the mode.

Finally, the Left 4 Dead 2 PC SKU will add Resident Evil 6 enemies Lepotitsa, Napad and Ogroman
