Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation Vita ranked as the top-selling hardware in Japan post price cut of the handheld.

Media Create Co. this month said the PS Vita sold 63,581 units between Mar. 4 and Mar. 10 to rank as the No. 1 hardware for the week.

By comparison, the hardware sold 62,543 the week prior.

The PS Vita ranked three titles in the top 10, including Soul Sacrifice at No. 2 and Tales of Hearts R at No. 5.

Meanwhile, the PSP sold 18,023 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.

Sony in Feb. decreased the PS Vita 3G SKU to 19,980 yen, $110 off the previous 29,980 yen price.

The company in Feb. said the game division held an operating profit of $49.3 million in the third quarter, down 86 percent from the year prior.

The Playstation Vita and PSP sold 2.7 million units combined in Q3. However, the company slashed shipment forecasts for the handhelds to seven million units by the end of fiscal Mar., down from a forecast of 16 million units.

Handheld software sales fell to 8.9 million from 11.4 million.
