NIS America Inc.’s Generations of Chaos: Pandora’s Reflection is a standard strategy title for Sony Corp.’s PSP and Playstation Vita that offers solid mechanics and political treachery.
Developed by Sting and Idea Factory, Generations of Chaos: Pandora’s Reflection wavers from the traditional grid-based strategy title with a waypoint-based movement system. When the ally soldier’s path crosses an enemy’s path, a battle occurs. In addition, soldiers can pick up on-screen bonus items via waypoint mapping.
In battle, users can choose from weapon or magic options, then participate in a real-time mini-game to hit the X button in a timed-manner in order to execute extra bonus damage. Stages are completed when all enemies are defeated.
In later missions, users can summon creatures to further damage enemy troops.
Between each level, users can utilize earned XP to level up characters, weapons, armor, and more. The menu process is streamlined for quick and easy upgrades throughout.
The graphics engine is decent with sprite-based characters and artwork to facilitate the title’s entertaining verbal sparring between characters. The sound engine includes dramatic orchestral fare with original Japanese-dialogue in story sequences.
Generations of Chaos: Pandora’s Reflection is a fun, alternative option in the strategy genre. With plenty of upgradeable characters and equipment, the title has enough to hold the interest of any strategy fan at home or abroad.
