Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS held strong in Japan in weekly retail data from the region.

Media Create Co. this month said the Nintendo 3DS sold 97,971 units between Feb. 11 and Feb. 17 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 127,695 the week prior.

The 3DS ranked nine titles in the top 10 including Dragon Quest VII: Fighters of Eden at No. 1, Animal Crossing: New Leaf at No. 2, New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 3, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at No. 5.

Nintendo in Jan. cut sales projections for the Nintendo 3DS to 15 million units from 17.5 million units. It has sold 29.84 million 3DS units to date.

The company posted a profit of $160 million for the first nine months to Dec. By comparison the company recorded a $531 million loss the year prior. It reported revenue of $5.9 billion, down from $6.1 billion the year prior. Finally, the company’s operating loss narrowed to $64.4 million from $180.4 million one year prior.
