Publication Destructoid this week released images of an in-development Playstation controller which features a touch surface in the middle, new analog sticks, updated triggers, and a front-facing sensor that could be utilized for Playstation Move titles.
In addition, the controller features a speaker and a headphone jack at the bottom.
Sony this week said The Last of Us for the Playstation 3 will be delayed from a previous May release to June 13.
Developer Naughty Dog Inc. said it required several more weeks to launch the anticipated title in order to meet the company’s quality standards.
Sony this week released two new characters to Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale for the Playstation 3.
New characters include Kat from Gravity Rush and Emmett Graves from Starhawk. The characters will be available for download at no cost for two weeks and then sold at $4.99 each thereafter.
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale features trademark characters from Playstation franchises, including Parappa the Rapper, Kratos from God of War, Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal, Col. Radec from Killzone, and Fat Princess.
Atlus Inc. this week released Persona 4 Arena to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3.
The 2D fighter title, released in Aug. 2012, is now available for digital download purchase.
Developed in partnership with Arc System Works, Persona 4 Arena is a 2D fighting title featuring characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4.
Tecmo Koei Corp. this week released the Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires demo to the Playstation Network division of the Playstation 3.
The demo allows players the Edit Mode to customize a character with the facial features, personality, weapon animation, abilities, outfits, and more. Characters created in the demo can be used in the final game.
Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires is an action strategy title in which players rule their own nation and invade territories.
Team 17 Digital Ltd. this week said it will release Superfrog HD to the Playstation 3 and the Playstation Vita in 2013.
Superfrog was originally released to the Amiga computer system in 1993.
The new version will include all new high-definition graphics to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the title.
Activision Blizzard Inc. this week released the Call of Duty: Black Ops II Revolution DLC to the Playstation 3 and the PC Feb. 28.
Revolution includes four new multiplayer maps, new Peacekeeper hybrid SMG-Assault Rifle, a new Zombies co-op map and a new Zombies game mode.
Bethesda Softworks this week released the Dragonborn DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim to the Playstation 3.
In Dragonborn, users journey beyond Skyrim to Solstheim, an island off the coast of Morrowind.
DLC content including Hearthfire and Dawnguard will be released in the next subsequent weeks.
Microsoft Corp. this week said the Xbox 360 ranked as the top-selling game hardware in U.S. Jan. sales figures.
The Xbox 360 sold 281,000 units to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the month in figures provided by NPD Group Inc.
The sales figure marks the 25th consecutive month the hardware has ranked as the No. 1 video game hardware in the U.S.
Microsoft this week said it has sold 76 million Xbox 360 units in global markets.
In addition, the Kinect sensor has sold 24 million units worldwide.
Finally, Xbox Live subscribers total 46 million units in global territories.
Minecraft ranked as the top-selling Xbox Live Arcade title in the latest sales data for the division.
For the week of Feb. 4, Minecraft ranked as the No. 1-selling Xbox Live Arcade title based on full versions purchased.

Sega Corp. this week released Aliens: Colonial Marines to U.S. retail.
Developed by Gearbox Software, Aliens: Colonial Marines is a squad-based first-person shooter that takes place following the events of the feature film Aliens.
The title includes a Team Deathmatch mode in addition to objective-based modes.
Microsoft this week released the Halo 4 Spartan Ops Episode 9 DLC.
In the episode, Key, Fireteam Majestic is sent to stop Palmer and save Halsey’s life. Majestic subsequently discovers the key to the future of the Halo Universe.
Microsoft this week launched new Telemunod and Neon Valley entertainment apps to the Xbox Live division of the Xbox 360.
Telemundo and Neon Valley are now available in the U.S. market. Telemundo offers access to novellas and shows, whle Neon Valley offers uncut and English-dubbed anime.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U console slowed at U.S. retail for the month of Jan. post holiday launch of the hardware.
NPD Group Inc. this week said the Wii U sold 57,000 units in the U.S. in Jan. By comparison, the Wii sold 348,000 units in Jan. 2007 post launch of the console.
Nintendo this week held a new Nintendo Direct session to announce new Wii U and Nintendo 3DS products.
New products include a number of new titles starring Luigi, including Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team for the Nintendo 3DS, New Super Luigi U – a new downloadable content pack that will provide more than 80 alternate Luigi levels to New Super Mario Bros. U, and Mario Golf: World Tour for the Nintendo 3DS.

This week, the Surface Pro 64GB SKU and 128GB SKU held a sold out status at Best Buy Co Inc.’s online division. In addition, the 128GB SKU is sold out at the Microsoft Store.
The Surface RT SKU held a similar supply issue at launch, though demand for the ARM-based tablet has been moderate post launch.
