Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation Vita held a gain in the latest retail data from Japan.
The PS Vita sold 9,748 units between Jan. 21 and Jan. 27 to rank as the No. 5 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 9,036 the week prior.
The hardware did not ranked two titles in the top 10 for the week, including Demon Gaze at No. 4 and Genkai Totsuki Monster Monpiece at No. 6.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 12,897 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.
The Playstation Vita and PSP sold 1.6 million units combined in the second quarter, a decline from 1.7 million units one year ago.
Sony cut its handheld sales forecast for the fiscal year ending June 2013 to 10 million units from 12 million.
The game business division held $1.9 billion in revenue, down from $2.2 billion and $28.8 million in operating income, down from $37.5 million year-over-year.
The PS Vita, which began sale Feb. 22 in the U.S., is sold in a Wi-Fi only model at $249.99 and a 3G model at $299.99.
