Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS held as the top hardware Japan in retail data from the region during the New Year shopping period.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 92,661 units between Jan. 7 and Jan. 13 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.

The hardware sold 279,259 the week prior.

The 3DS ranked seven titles in the top 10 including Animal Crossing: New Leaf at No. 1, New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 2, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at No. 3.

Nintendo in Oct. cut annual sales of the Nintendo 3DS by 5.4 percent to 17.5 million units. In addition, it lowered 3DS software sales by 4.5 percent.

Nintendo lowered full-year net income by 70 percent to six billion yen, or $75 million. It previously estimated net income at 20 billion yen.

For the first half of the fiscal year, Nintendo held revenue of $2.5 billion, down from $2.7 billion one year ago. It posted a loss of $359.8 million compared to a loss of $880.7 million one year prior.
