Nvidia Corp. this week announced the Project Shield Mobile Gaming Device at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV.

Project Shield, to be sold in Q2, will feature a Tegra 4 CPU, 5-inch 720p Retinal Touch Screen Display, micro SD expansion slot, and plain Android with support for games in Tegra Zone and all Google Play apps.

Nvidia Project ShieldIn addition, the product can stream Windows PC game titles with PCs equipped with a GeForce GTX 650 or higher.

The 5-inch screen is attached to a console-grade controller with dual analog sticks, four-button array, d-pad and triggers.

The Tegra 4 features 72 custom Nvidia GeForce GPU cores to equal six times the power of the Tegra 3.

In addition, the processor will include a quad-core Cortex-A15 ARM-based CPU for about 2.6 times faster web browsing and performance in applications.

Pricing for Project Shield is to be determined.
