Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 climbed in the latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 42,976 units between Dec. 10 and Dec. 16 to rank No. 3 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 36,994 units to rank second the week prior.
Sega Corp.’s Yakuza 5 ranked as the No. 4 software for the week selling 82,941 units for a total of 439,698 to date.
Index Digital Media Inc.’s Atlus division this week said it will release God Mode to the Playstation Network, Xbox Live and PC in 2013.
Developed by Old School Games, God Hand is a new third-person co-op shooter with RPG elements with a humorous view of the afterlife.
Sony this week released the God of War: Ascension demo for the Playstation 3 with the Total Recall Blu-ray disc.
The Total Recall Director’s Cut Blu-ray disc includes a demo that previews the new mechanics and combat systems to be found in the final game.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware increased units in week-to-week figures in Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,760 units between Dec. 10 and Dec. 16 to rank No. 7 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 1,216 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software in the top 10 game sales.
EA Inc. this week released the details for the Battlefield 3: End Game DLC Expansion Pack.
Battlefield 3: End Game will include four new maps designed for high-speed combat. The DLC will feature three new vehicles including dirt bikes, new dropship to provide vehicle drops, and the classic Capture The Flag game mode.
End Game is the final expansion pack for Battlefield 3. It will be sold Mar. 2013.
Namco Bandai Games America Inc. this week said Ace Combat Assault Horizon for the Xbox Live division of the Xbox 360 has been delayed to Jan. 2013.
The title will be available on the PC for digital download in Q1 2013.
Tecmo Koei America Inc. this week announced a new pre-order bonus incentive for Fist of the North Star: Ken’s Rage 2.
Customers who pre-order the title at GameStop Corp. locations will receive a DLC pack that includes costumes for eight characters.

The PS Vita sold 14,446 units between Dec. 10 and Dec. 16 to rank as the No. 5 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 11,039 the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 33,002 units to rank at No. 4 in the same period.
Tecmo Koei America Corp. this week released new details for Dead or Alive 5 Plus for the Playstation Vita.
Touch Play Mode will allow users to battle with two new types of touch combat. In the mode, users hold the PS Vita vertically for a first-person view and tap the opponent to attack or touch, flick, and pinch the screen to attack with additional options.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii U hardware held strong in second-week sales in Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii U sold 126,916 units between Dec. 10 and Dec. 16 to rank No. 2 in overall sales.
It sold 308,142 units at launch the week prior.
Nintendo this week released the Nintendo TVii service for the Wii hardware to U.S. and Canada users.
At launch, the service will support cable and satellite providers, in addition to direct integration with Amazon Instant Video and Hulu Plus in the U.S.
Integration with Netflix, Tivo is scheduled for early 2013.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 319,025 units between Dec. 10 and Dec. 16 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 211,499 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked six titles in the top 10 including Inazuma Eleven Go 2 at No. 1, Animal Crossing: New Leaf at No. 2, Paper Mario: Sticker Star at No. 3, New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 6, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon at No. 8 and Toriko: Gourmet Monsters at No. 9.
Atlus Inc. this week said it will release Shin Megami Tensai: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers for the Nintendo 3DS in spring 2013.
Soul Hackers is a first-person dungeon-crawling title in which users can choose to fight demon enemies or negotiate to recruit them in allies.
The 3DS SKU will include 30 additional demons, auto-mapping functions, and an extra dungeon after completion of the game.
Nintendo Co. this week said it will release Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity for the Nintendo 3DS Mar. 24.
The title will include more than 20 randomly-generated 3D dungeons five popular Pokemon characters – Pikachu, Snivy, Oshawott, Tepig, or Axew.
Tommo Inc. and SNK Playmore Corp. this week released the Neo Geo X Gold Limited Edition entertainment system to U.S. retail.
The Neo Geo X Gold Limited Edition includes the Neo Geo X Station, Neo Geo X handheld, Neo Geo X Arcade Stick, and Limited Edition Ninja Masters Game Card at $199.99.
Capcom Co. this week released Street Fighter X Mega Man to the PC.
The title is a 8-bit-like side-scroller title features Mega Man in eight brand new Street Fighter-themed stages feat. Street Fighter character bosses.

Capcom Co. this week said it will release Resident Evil 6 for the PC to U.S. retail Mar. 22, 2013.
The PC SKU will include all content found in the console release including Title Updates that add the Ada Wong campaign and No Hope difficulty at start.
Steam functionality will include Cloud Saving, Achievements, Friends, Game Overlay, and Leaderboards.
