Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked second in hardware in the latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 29,809 units between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 34,167 units to rank second the week prior.
The PS3 ranked three titles in the top 10 in Japan including 2nd Super Robot Wars OG at No. 1, Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational at No. 6, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II at No. 7.
Sony this week said Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead ranked as the top-selling digital download title at the Playstation Network division in Nov.
For Nov. 2012, The Walking Dead – Episode 5: No Time Left ranked as the No. 1 best-selling digital download title.
Assassins’ Creed III ranked at No. 2 and Sonic Adventure 3 at No. 3 in the same period.
Sony and Netflix Inc. this week said the Playstation 3 is the top platform for viewing movies and TV shows from Netflix.
Netflix currently serves 30 million customers globally with streaming movie and TV services.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment this week released Guardians of Middle-earth for the Playstation 3 to the Playstation Network to U.S. retail.
Developed by Monolith Productions, the multiplayer online battle arena title includes up to ten players in five versus five competitive multiplayer action.
Sony this week released the LittleBigPlanet Karting demo for the Playstation 3 to the Playstation Network division.
The demo includes a tutorial track, two story tracks, a mini-game, and selection of costumes, karts, stickers and other customizations.
Developed by United Front Games, LittleBigPlanet Karting, released Nov. 6, includes a new campaign and level editor with the ability to share custom tracks.
Sales for the Playstation Vita climbed in the retail data from Japan.
The PS Vita sold 11,066 units between Nov. 25 and Dec. 2 to rank as the No. 4 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 9,712 the week prior.
The hardware ranked two titles in the top 10, including Fate/Stay Night at No. 9 and Atelier Totori Plus at No. 10.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 15,941 units to rank at No. 3 in the same period.

Developed by Bend Studio, Uncharted: Fight for Fortune is an action adventure turn-based card battle game heroes, villains, and mercenaries from the Uncharted universe.
The title sells at $4.99 as a digital download product.
Sony this month announced a new update to the YouTube application for the Playstation Vita handheld.
Version 2 features subscriptions and channels, improved controls, playlists, closed captions, continuous playback, share and improved search functionality.
Tecmo Koei America Corp. this week said it will release Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus and Dead or Alive 5 Plus to the Playstation Vita handheld.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus will include brand new front and rear touch control features, new modes like Ninja Race to compete with enemies to reach the end goal, and Tag Mission to allow users to switch between two ninjas in real-time.
Dead or Alive 5 Plus will include new touch controls to fight with taps, swipes, and pinches. In addition, the title will include a first-person vertical screen mode that will utilize the PS Vita motion sensor.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware held below 1,300 units in week-to-week figures in Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,217 units between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 1,495 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any software in the top 10 game sales.
Microsoft this week said it sold 1.26 million Xbox 360 units in Nov. U.S. sales.
The company previously reported sales of 750,000 units over the Black Friday weekend.
Microsoft this week said it will sell the Xbox 360 Nike+ Kinect Training Bundle at U.S. retail.
The bundle will include the Xbox 360 4GB console, Kinect sensor, a copy of Nike+ Kinect Training and one month Xbox Live Gold membership at $249.99.
Ubisoft Inc. this week released Far Cry 3 to U.S. retail.
Far Cry 3 is a first-person shooter sequel that includes shooting and melee action.
Multiplayer modes includes rewards for individual skill and team play. The final game will include open-world sandbox gameplay like prior entries and online co-op functionality.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware climbed in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 5,550 units between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2 to rank No. 5 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 3,590 units the week prior.
The hardware ranked one title in the top 10, Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Super Deluxe Edition at No. 3.
Nintendo this week said it sold more than 425,000 units of the Wii U hardware in Nov.
The company said the figures accounted for only eight days worth of sales in captured data by NPD Group Inc.
Meanwhile, the Wii console sold 420,000 units in Nov. It has sold 40 million units in the U.S. to date.
Nintendo this week said New Super Mario Bros. Wii U for the Wii U held a 60 percent attach rate to sales of the new console in Nov.
The company said New Super Mario Bros. Wii U sold 243,000 units in Nov.
Nintendo this week said it will release a version of Google Inc.’s Google Maps application to the Wii U hardware.
The Wii U version will offer map functionality on the Wii U GamePad with the option to pan around using the gyroscopic function in Street Mode. The television will provide a satellite view of the mapped area.

Sales for the Nintendo 3DS held the top sales rank in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 167,408 units between Nov. 26 and Dec. 2 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 162,077 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked four titles in the top 10 including Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney at No. 2, Animal Crossing: New Leaf at No. 4, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon at No. 5, and New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 8.
The Nintendo DS sold 457 units for the week.
Nintendo this week said the Nintendo 3DS has sold 6.5 million units to date in the U.S.
The hardware sold 540,000 units in Nov. in captured data by NPD Group Inc.
In addition, Mario Kart 7 became the second Nintendo 3DS title to surpass two million units in sales in the U.S.
