Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 ranked second in hardware in the latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 34,167 units between Nov. 19 and Nov. 25 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 17,035 units to rank second the week prior.
Sony this week said it sold more than a half million Playstation 3 Black Friday bundles this month.
During Black Friday week, the PS3 Black Friday bundle sold 525,000 units at U.S. retail.
The company said Black Friday bundle sales increased 15 percent from the year prior. In addition, hardware, software, and peripheral sales increased nine percent from one year ago.
The PS3 Black Friday Bundle included the PS3 250GB SKU, Uncharted Dual Pack with Uncharted and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Infamous Collection, and a 30-day trial Playstation Plus Membership at $199.99.
Amazon.com Inc. this week began sale of the exclusive Playstation 3 250GB Family Entertainment Bundle at under $300.
The PS3 250GB Family Entertainment Bundle includes the PS3 250GB SKU hardware, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, the Ratchet and Clank Collection, Media/Blue-Ray Disc Remote Control and $20 Amazon Instant Video Credit at $299.99.
Sony this week said sales of the Playstation Plus premium online service increased 295 during the week of Black Friday.
The company said Playstation Plus subscriptions sales increased 295 percent from the year prior.
In addition, customer satisfaction rates for the service are above 95 percent.
Sony this week released Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault for the Playstation 3.
Ratchet and Clank: Full Frontal Assault includes traditional third-person mechanics found in prior entries of the franchise.
The final game includes new online co-op functionality and three playable characters.
Customers who purchase the SKU will receive the PS3 and Playstation Vita versions which include Cross-Play and Cross-Save functionality.
It sells at $19.99.
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. this week began selling an exclusive bundle that includes the Playstation 3 250GB hardware, Playstation Move and LittleBigPlanet Karting at under $300.
Sales for the Playstation Vita jumped the latest retail data from Japan.
The PS Vita sold 9,712 units between Nov. 19 and Nov. 25 to rank as the No. 4 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 13,091 the week prior.
Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation ranked as the No. 6 best-selling title for the week.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 16,903 units to rank at No. 3 in the same period.
Sony this week said it sold more than 160,000 Playstation Vita units during the week of Black Friday.
The company said the PS Vita Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation Bundle and the PS Vita Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified Bundle at $199.99 each sold out quickly at U.S. retailers.
Sales for Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 hardware held below 1,500 units in week-to-week figures in Japan.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,495 units between Nov. 19 and Nov. 25 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 2,063 units the week prior.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II ranked as the No. 6 best-selling game title, selling 22,177 units for the week.
Microsoft this week said it sold 750,000 Xbox 360 units last week, which included the Black Friday shopping period.
Between Nov. 18 and Nov. 23, the company sold 750,000 Xbox 360 units in the U.S.
In addition, Xbox Live held a 43 percent increase in activity Black Friday week compared to 2011.
Microsoft this week said it will release the Crimson Map Pack for Halo 4 for the Xbox 360 Dec. 10.
The Crimson Map Pack adds three new War Games Battlefields – Wreckage, Harvest, and Shatter. The expansion will include eight Achievements and sell at 800 Microsoft Points.
In addition, a new game type called Extraction will be released Dec. 10.
Extraction is a 5 vs. 5 objective-based game type where opposing Spartan teams are tasked with extracting assets from various sites around the map.
Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II for the Xbox 360 ranked as the top Xbox Live games in the latest activity data.
This week, Microsoft said Call of Duty: Black Ops II ranked as the No. 1 Xbox Live title for the week of Nov. 19 based on unique users.
Halo 4 ranked at No. 2 and Minecraft ranked at No. 3 in the same period.
Microsoft this week said Minecraft ranked as the top-selling Xbox Live Arcade title in the latest sales data for the division.
For the week of Nov. 19, Minecraft ranked as the No. 1-selling Xbox Live Arcade title based on full versions purchased.
The Walking Dead ranked at No. 2 and Magic 2013 ranked at No. 3 in the same period.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware ranked as the fifth top-selling hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 3,590 units between Nov. 19 and Nov. 25 to rank No. 5 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 3,001 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10.
New Super Mario Bros. U and Ubisoft Inc.’s ZombiU lead Nintendo eShop download titles for the Wii U in new data from the digital store.
This week, New Super Mario Bros. U ranked as the No. 1 Most Popular Nintendo eShop download title.
ZombiU ranked at No. 2 in the same period.
Trine 2: Director’s Cut, Nano Assault Neo, and Sega Corp.’s Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed rounded out the top five digital game sales.
Nintendo Co. this week said it sold 400,000 Wii U consoles in the first week of sale at U.S. retail.
Overall, Nintendo sold 1.2 million units of hardware, including the Wii U, Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS.
The Wii U launched Nov. 18 in the U.S.
GameStop Corp. this week restocked the Wii U Deluxe Set SKU and Basic Set SKUs post a Thanksgiving week sell-out at U.S. retail.
This week, the Deluxe Set and Basic Set both held an in-stock status at GameStop.com.
The Basic Set includes the Wii U console and the Wii U GamePad in White, 8GB storage, AC adapters, HDMI cable and Wii U sensor bar at $299.99.
The Deluxe Set includes the Wii U console and Wii U GamePad in Black, 32GB storage, GamePad Charging Cradle, Stands for the GamePad and Console, AC adapters, HDMI cable, and Nintendo Land at $349.99.

Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 162,077 units between Nov. 19 and Nov. 25 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 168,876 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked three titles in the top 10 including Animal Crossing: New Leaf at No. 1, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon at No. 3, New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 5, E.X. Troopers at No. 7, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at No. 9 and Dangerous Ji-San to 1000-nin no Otomodachi Yokoshima at No. 10.
The Nintendo DS sold 452 units for the week.
Nintendo this week said it will sell the Nintendo 3DS XL Mario Kart 7 Bundle Dec. 2 at U.S. retail.
The bundle will include a Blue / Black Nintendo 3DS XL handheld with Mario Kart 7 pre-installed on the hardware at $199.99.
Microsoft this week said will sell the Surface with Windows 8 Pro starting at $899 in early 2013.
The 64GB SKU will sell at $899 while the 128GB SKU will sell at $999.
Surface with Windows 8 Pro will include an Intel Core i5 CPU, 1920 x 1080 resolution, digitizer pen, mini DisplayPort, and features compatibility with all x86-based Windows applications.
