Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation Vita jumped the latest retail data from Japan.
The PS Vita sold 9,712 units between Nov. 19 and Nov. 25 to rank as the No. 4 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 13,091 the week prior.
Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation ranked as the No. 6 best-selling title for the week.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 16,903 units to rank at No. 3 in the same period.
The Playstation Vita and PSP sold 1.6 million units combined in the second quarter, a decline from 1.7 million units one year ago.
Sony cut its handheld sales forecast for the fiscal year ending June 2013 to 10 million units from 12 million.
The game business division held $1.9 billion in revenue, down from $2.2 billion and $28.8 million in operating income, down from $37.5 million year-over-year.
The PS Vita, which began sale Feb. 22 in the U.S., is sold in a Wi-Fi only model at $249.99 and a 3G model at $299.99.
