Activision Blizzard Inc. this week said Call of Duty: Black Ops II generated $500 million in the first 24 hours of sale at global retail.
By comparison, Modern Warfare 3 raked in $400M in the first 24 hours of sale in 2012 and Black Ops took $360 million in the first 24 hours in 2011.
Developed by Treyarch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, to be sold Nov. 13, will include a brand new single-player campaign and multiplayer functionality.
Locations previewed in the title include Los Angeles and a mission set in Afghanistan in which users must ride horseback.
The final game will include new Strike Force missions that affect the story and the Zombies multiplayer mode.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops II Hardened Edition will be sold at $79.99.
