Microsoft Corp. this week said the Xbox 360 ranked as the top-selling game hardware in U.S. Oct. sales figures.
The Xbox 360 sold 270,000 units to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the month in figures provided by NPD Group Inc.
Video game sales in Oct. fell 25 percent from one year prior to $$755.5 million
Software sales fell 25 percent to $451.8 million.
Hardware sales fell 37 percent to $187.3 million from one year ago.
Microsoft in Oct. recorded a 24 percent decline in Xbox 360 revenue from the year prior to $418 million. A total of 1.7 million Xbox 360 units shipped in the first quarter, down from 2.3 million units shipped the year prior. Xbox 360 hardware market share increased to 49 percent from 47 percent in the quarter.
In the Entertainment and Devices division, which includes the Xbox business, income fell to $19 million from $340 million one year prior.
