Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Nintendo 3DS held the top sales rank in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 61,542 units between Oct. 22 and Oct. 28 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 60,232 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked three titles in top 10, including Kadokawa Games’ AKB48+Me at No. 4, Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Bravely Default: Flying Fairy at No. 6 and New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 8.
The Nintendo DS sold 441 units for the week.
Nintendo in Oct. cut annual sales of the Nintendo 3DS by 5.4 percent to 17.5 million units. In addition, it lowered 3DS software sales by 4.5 percent.
Nintendo lowered full-year net income by 70 percent to six billion yen, or $75 million. It previously estimated net income at 20 billion yen.
For the first half of the fiscal year, Nintendo held revenue of $2.5 billion, down from $2.7 billion one year ago. It posted a loss of $359.8 million compared to a loss of $880.7 million one year prior.
