Sales for Sony Corp.’s Playstation 3 fell in the latest retail data from Japan.
Media Create Co. this week reported the PS3 sold 21,354 units between Oct. 15 and Oct. 21 to rank No. 2 in overall hardware sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 26,312 units to rank third the week prior.
The PS3 ranked two titles in the top 10 including Capcom Co.’s Resident Evil 6 at No. 2, which sold 42,234 units for the week. The title has sold 770,088 units since launch.
Pre-order sales for the Playstation 3 Slim 500GB Assassin’s Creed Bundle ranked in the top 25 pre-order sales at GameStop Corp.’s online division due to building demand.
This week, the PS3 Slim 500GB Assassin’s Creed Bundle ranked as the No. 21 best-selling pre-order product at GameStop.com.
The Playstation 3 Slim 500GB Assassin’s Creed Bundle includes the PS3 500GB CECH-4000 hardware, Assassin’s Creed III, 30-day Playstation Plus Membership and Dualshock 3 Controller at $299.99.
It will be sold Oct. 30.
Sony this week released System Software Update v4.30 to the Playstation 3.
The update changes how Trophies are viewed on the PS3 with a new subsection under the Playstation Network.
In addition, Trophies earned on the Playstation Vita handheld will be displayed next to PS3 Trophies.

This week, Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale ranked as the No. 18 best-selling pre-order product in BestBuy.com’s Video Games division.
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, to be sold Nov. 20, will feature trademark characters from Playstation franchises, including Parappa the Rapper, Kratos from God of War, Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal, Col. Radec from Killzone, and Fat Princess.
Sony this week released the Zues God Trailer for God of War: Ascension for the Playstation 3.
The trailer includes multiplayer action in which the player aligns with Zues to grant a set of powers, armor sets, and abilities.
The God of War: Ascension Mutiplayer Beta will launch this winter to Playstation Plus members.
Sales for the Playstation Vita ranked fourth in the latest retail data from Japan.
The PS Vita sold 6,791 units between Oct.15 and Oct. 21 to rank as the No. 4 hardware for the week.
By comparison, the hardware sold 6,134 the week prior.
The PS Vita ranked two titles in the top 10 for the week, including The Legend of Heroes at No. 7 and Little Battlers eXperience W at No. 8.
Meanwhile, the PSP sold 15,575 units to rank at No. 3 in the same period.
The hardware ranked one title in the top 10 for the week, Little Battlers eXperience W at No. 1.
XSEED Games this week released Orgarythm for the Playstation Vita to the Playstation Network division.
Developed by Acquire and Neilo, the music title includes real-time strategy elements and touch-based gameplay.

Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Xbox 360 sold 1,937 units between Oct. 15 and Oct. 21 to rank No. 6 in overall sales.
By comparison, the hardware sold 2,400 units the week prior.

EA Inc. this week released Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
Developed by Danger Close, Medal of Honor: Warfighter utilizes the Frostbite 2.0 engine and include two Navy SEALs and AFO Team Neptune Members Mother and Preacher.
Microsoft this week released Forza Horizon for the Xbox 360 to U.S. retail.
Developed by Playground Games with Turn 10 Studios, Forza Horizon includes an open-road world that will allow users to explore the territory.
Sales for Nintendo Co.’s Wii hardware ranked as the fifth top-selling hardware in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. on Fri. reported that the Wii sold 4,035 units between Oct. 15 and Oct. 21 to rank No. 5 in overall sales.
By comparison, the Wii sold 4,476 units the week prior.
The hardware did not rank any titles in the top 10.
Nintendo in Oct. lowered full-year net income by 70 percent to six billion yen, or $75 million. It previously estimated net income at 20 billion yen.
For the first half of the fiscal year, Nintendo held revenue of $2.5 billion, down from $2.7 billion one year ago. It posted a loss of $359.8 million compared to a loss of $880.7 million one year prior.
Nintendo this week said it will sell new Wii bundles that includes Ubisoft Inc.’s Just Dance 4 and Activision Blizzard Inc.’s Skylanders Giants in time for the holiday buying period.
The Wii Just Dance 4 Bundle will include the Wii console, Just Dance 4, Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk Controller at $129.99.
The Wii Skylanders Bundle will include a blue Wii console, Wii Remote Plus, Nunchuk Controller, one Portal of Power, two Skylanders characters and one Giant Skylander at $149.99.
Nintendo Co. this week said the Wii U console will be sold at a loss when it launches this holiday season, in a new report.
Nintendo Senior Managing Director Yoshihiro Mori said the Wii would be sold at a loss due to expensive manufacturing costs and the strategy to keep the console at an acceptable mass market price.
The Basic Set will include the Wii U console and the Wii U GamePad in White, 8GB storage, AC adapters, HDMI cable and Wii U sensor bar at $299.99.
The Deluxe Set will include the Wii U console and Wii U GamePad in Black, 32GB storage, GamePad Charging Cradle, Stands for the GamePad and Console, AC adapters, HDMI cable, and Nintendo Land at $349.99.
Both SKUs will be sold Nov. 18.
Sales for the Nintendo 3DS held the top sales rank in Japan in the latest retail data from the region.
Media Create Co. this week said the Nintendo 3DS sold 60,232 units between Oct. 15 and Oct. 21 to rank as the No. 1 game hardware for the week.
The hardware sold 79,300 the week prior.
The 3DS ranked four titles in top 10, including Square Enix Holdings Co.’s Bravely Default: Flying Fairy at No. 3 and New Super Mario Bros. 2 at No. 6.
The Nintendo DS sold 529 units for the week.
Nintendo in Oct. cut annual sales of the Nintendo 3DS by 5.4 percent to 17.5 million units. In addition, it lowered 3DS software sales by 4.5 percent.
Nintendo this week said new franchise titles like Luigi’s Mansion, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing will be released to the Nintendo 3DS in 2013.
Apple Inc. this week announced the new iPad mini tablet, a smaller version of the best-selling iPad tablet.
The iPad mini will include a 7.9-inch display, is 7.2mm thick, and 0.68 lbs. In addition, the tablet will include a FaceTime HD camera with 720p HD video functionality, 5MP camera with 1080p HD video functionality, and 10 hours of battery life.
The 16GB SKU will sell at $329, 32GB at $429 and 64GB at $529. Cellular models include the 16GB at $459, 32GB at $559, and 64GB at $659.
Pre-order sales began Oct. 26 with shipment on Nov. 2.
Microsoft this week sold out of launch delivery for Surface tablets to strong online demand.
This week, all three configurations of the Surface with Windows RT, which include the $499 32GB SKU, the $599 32GB with Touch Cover SKU and the $699 64GB with Touch Cover SKU, hold delivery times of one to three weeks from the Oct. 26th launch.
Microsoft Surface includes 10.6-inch Gorilla Glass screen, HDMI, USB 3.0, front and rear cameras, kickstand, and 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi antennas.
