Apple Inc. this week announced the new iPad mini tablet, a smaller version of the best-selling iPad tablet.
The iPad mini will include a 7.9-inch display, is 7.2mm thick, and 0.68 lbs. In addition, the tablet will include a FaceTime HD camera with 720p HD video functionality, 5MP camera with 1080p HD video functionality, and 10 hours of battery life.
The 16GB SKU will sell at $329, 32GB at $429 and 64GB at $529. Cellular models include the 16GB at $459, 32GB at $559, and 64GB at $659.
Pre-order sales will begin Oct. 26 with shipment on Nov. 2.
In addition to the iPad mini, the current iPad will receive a refreshed A6X CPU with quad-core graphics said to offer twice the speed as the current $499 model.
Apple this month said it has sold 100 million iPad units to date.
